Hi everybody!

Have had our TDi Pacific for about 2 months now and have clocked up over 6000 fantastic klms. The leather trim and heated seats are great and well worth the extra. We have had an issue with some of the windows coming down by themselves. Not much, only about 5 mm, but enough to be a concern. Other than that it is a great car and i look forward to being a member.

Cheers

gday, dan is my name, I ve only just been converted to the vw faith, but I can see myself becoming fanatical. I have a new 2.0 tdi pacific on order, should be picking it up in a couple of wks. Just wondering if anyone has ever fitted nudge/ roo bars to their golf. any pics from rally background? and also wondering how the towbars are fitted? I live in rural WA, hence the plans for somewhere to mount the spotties. any simple mods to make the diesel pull harder, better economy etc, am very impressed with it stock, but still.....

Hi all,
Just taken delivery 2 days ago new Dark Blue 2008 GTI DSG Leather and Park Sensors. Very good drive away price I think the financial crisis plus the new model coming out has made the dealers more flexible.

I have been reading the forum for some time as my wife has a TDI Golf, aways a good read and friendly members.

The Gti just go's, very tempting but not run in so taking some care. Hope I can keep myself under control I need my licence.

Early days but so far just loving the drive.

right i'm looking at getting either a 97-98 audi a3 possibly turbo, and a 98 golf. I was hoping on some pros and cons on both models. There both in the same price band and i have qualities i like about both models, was also looking at some suttle mod's ie wheels smoothing of body panels and maybe in the future engine work, but i mean way in the future. Any help will be appreciated and/or telling me to post somewhere else, what ever floats your boat.
Thanks

Hi team, im sam im a 19 year old student studying in brisbane and was lookin for my first car, found a 95' model seat ibiza GTI, down in sydney, long story short iv had it for about a month now. Iv put 3000km's on it in that time and wouldnt swap it for any other car in its class, even being 13 years old! everyone checks it out, its nice to have a unique car, especially for my first car! my first question is, can anyone recommend a dealer or a mechanic that specialises in VW or audi that i could use to service my car? if youv had any good experiences with a dealer or mechanic in brisbane id be glad to know about it.

Wardy here, happy to join the forum. We have a May 2008 white Golf GT Sport 1.4 DSG. Standard apart from the iPod connection, mud flaps and carpets. Was going to wait for a 2009 German Golf VI, but our existing bubble 121 gave up the ghost.

Very enjoyable so far. Averaging 7.7l/100 in Sydney peak hour driving (just ticked over 10000km).

Hi been waiting on my 09 TFSI Jetta since August I originally ordered the 08 model but having ordered the Charleston wheels it made it a factory order so was told by the dealer that ill be getting the car in early December but the great news is that it will be the new 09 model. These are the options I went for with the Jetta.
Black Metallic Paint, Bonnet Protector, Sunroof, WindowTint, Weathershield, Slimline Headlight protectors, Leather Seats, iPod Interface
18" Charleston Wheels, 6 SP AUTO DIRECTSHIFT.
The Jetta arrives in the country 30/11 and I should have it by 14/12 and I cant wait !

Hi all,

I'm Damo from Melbourne. Just found this forum, wish I'd known about it before!!

My daily driver for the last 4 years has been a '99 Cordoba 1.6 man SXE, and it's been a great little car. Decided it was time for a new car, so was looking at the Golf GT Sport and the Polo GTi. 'Almost' bought the Polo, until Peugeot dropped $7k off the price of the 207 GT, so bought one of them instead. Don't hate me! I've long been a fan of VWs, but also like the frenchies and am a bit of an Alfisti too.

Current rides are the Cordoba (for sale), '08 Pug 207 GT, '74 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000, '70 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina (project car) and an Alfa 2000 Berlina parts car.

Hi. Have just ordered my first VW, A shadow blue TDI Golf Pacific. Getting iPod adapter, mats and reverse sensors in the deal so I'm really happy Should be picking it up about 02 Jan. Cant wait! Shifting down from V6 Camry.

Have had a lifelong love affair with VW since my 2 aunts in the 60's and 70's in Rockhampton both had a green beetle. I used to sit in the space behind the rear seat!!

Really happy to have found this forum as I'm sure I will have some questions along the way.

Gday

Im Sam from Melbourne. Just purchased an 08 Golf TDI Pacific in United Grey. Was in the market for a new car for the Mrs - shopped at Mazda (for a 6) and then Subaru (for a Forester) and am SO glad that we ended up with a Golf.

My car is an 06 commodore, and the TDI blows its socks off, and handles 100 times better to boot.

Couldnt be happier with the car - just under 3000km on the clock now, only had it for a month today!

Having said that -I do have ONE issue - the CD player has **** itself - I get an error message saying to 'check disk' - this comes up regardless of what disk i put in. So I think its going back to Barlow World.. and I think i'll get the ipod adapter fitted while im there.

Does anyone know if the OEM VW ipod adapter will work with the 3G iphone?

Thanks

Sam

Hey

I've just stumbled across this site and thought I couldn't resist sharing my praise for vw's. For a short period of time I have had the pleasure of owning a mk1 golf and I can say I don't think I went wrong. It goes great for a little car and is completly underated as a car in Australia. Just the other day I had some bogans in a van row boating me, to which i replied by torching them to show them a thing or two. So it would be great if I could also get some contacts in terms of parts and supplies as I need to do a bit of work and would like to get it looking like its former glory.

Thanks

Hey all - 99_FGT here, aka Al (or is it the other way around)
New to the forum as I'm looking to get a VR6 in 4-8 weeks - I have a hole to fill before I can get one.
Liking what I'm seeing here, but I must say it will not stay stock for long. Will be looking to do suspension and braking mods to get it to handle better, and from what I see there are not a lot of opportunities for major power gains without going down a compressed air route.
Another Brissie member (southside ftw), previously had a Foz GT (99, hence the name) and then an SP23. Hope the VR6 is what I am after.
Cheers,
Al..

ps. I'll most likely be riding Shotgun with SeanGTi on the March 29 GC cruise - look forward to meeting some of you

Hello all. I have been driving an 06 Gti Polo since new. Bought it in Jan 06. Previously had a Subaru awd turbo. Have to say it was quicker stock vs stock. But I am planning on getting a retune to the polo. So can't wait to see the difference. Live in Brisbane so I am thinking APR will be the way to go, firstly because of the functions and also location. But I will not be making a rushed decision.

Welcome Meko, I also have an '06 Polo GTI. Mine has the APR V2 chip and it's amazing to say the least. I think your decision should be a rushed one . Keep in mind that you can have a 6hr free trial from APR, so maybe have a look into that as well. Guy (from APR) is a frequent member of this site so shoot him any questions you may have. He's very friendly to deal will.

Why don't you check out the 'Queensland Events' section and have a look at the details for the Gold Coast get-together we have coming up shortly. You should come along and meet a few of us there. It should be a good turn-out.

Most importantly... enjoy your time here!

Hi all
I have a 2.5 yr old R32 which I have had since new - I have posted pics on the MK5 pics thread.

I have been frequenting http://www.r32oc.com/ for a long time and for some reason did not know about this forum.

My car rocks and still makes me smile almost every morning when I hear its throaty cough as I chug down the road.

26,000 KM - 4 new tyres, service every year..all in going well.

Couple of mods as I have the front grill sprayed black and added the Audi S6 Daylight running lights to the grille.

Having this car has made me VW thru and thru (unless i got an Audi RS4 wagon) though Audi and VW are related!!

Good to have so many VDubbers around and would love to be involved in a HUGE Golf Meet up in Sydney some time..

Cheers

Thank you for the welcome.

It is a Mark V GTI. To refer to a Polo GTI simply as a "GTI" would be a bit misleading, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I wrote about what I think of the GTI here:

Hey there,

Very long and boring story..i wont bother with too many details.

I have or had a lovely working VW Golf GTI 1991 MK2. An (ex) friend drove up the great ocean road and (my mechanic said) ruined the engine because it overheated. I don’t really know much more about whats wrong except that it needs a new engine.

I had it towed back to Melbourne because i wasn't sure what to do. He conveniently left town and went back to England while i've been unsure what to do for months now.

I was about to list it on ebay hoping to get a few hundred dollars for parts but then i was a bit sad.

I've only had it for 4 years and when i started looking for new cars to buy nothing really compares to it. I love that car and i know it's old and maybe not as great as i think it is..but does anyone think it would be worthwhile putting a new engine in it and what roughly would i expect to pay for an engine and labour?

I was expecting to pay about $5000 for a second hand car so I just thought maybe..just maybe I could get it rebuilt for that much?

I hope its ok to ask this on the website i know there are lots of rules so i hope i'm not breaking any!

Really appreciate any words of encouragement as I’m a bit lost without my car.

Hi & welcome,

You might want to copy most of your tale of troubles into the Mk2 section, I'm sure some of the guys will jump in with advise.

Hi all,

Very happy to be here and also very happy to have found VWwA.
I own a Black 06 MkV5 Jetta 2FSI. And I bought a Black 07 Passat wagon 2TDI for my beautiful wife.
What can I say, I love my Jetta and I look forward to finishing the mods/work that I have planned for it. At the moment it rides on stock 17" wheels, which soon will be replaced by 18"s maybe (any suggestions or suppliers, please let me know). Suspension is via KW coil over #3, and I also added a HiTV V2000 GPS/Stereo. Sunroof, dark tint and leather are factory and recently I fitted the Smoked Angel Eye Projector Headlights.
Next will be ECU upgrade, filter and exhaust. Again I would appreciate any recommendations and feedback from you guys.

PS: Sorry cant post any pics yet. Will do soon.

Cheers for now

Hi guys,
No ride yet just sold the Forester GT to get an new car.
Looking at the Octavia 2.0 diesel or Scout. Still deciding whether to go DSG or Manual on the Octavia. So many choices so little time.
Thought would come on to pick your brains before making any rash decisons.

Hi All,
I have been reading with interest on the forums about the many variations between the different vans in the range, so many options and versions. I am interested in the newer Caravelle/Multivan and transporter style as we need an 8 seater to move the family circus around and soon will need a 9 seater. I have seen a few transporters with 9 seats and rear air con and different seating configerations.

We currently have a Ford wagon with extra seats in the rear which has been good but kids are getting bigger and will only be practical for a few more years.

I was looking at a transporter with 9 seats and wondered if there was a big difference between the 93Kw turbo diesel and the 128Kw when it came to moving 2 adults, 7 kids although young they come with all the stuff you need to cart around the countryside like prams, bags, bikes etc etc.

I am a diesel fitter by trade and understand the difference on paper between the two but I was wondering if anyone had driven both and could give me their opinion of the difference, also on the tech side if there is a conversion kit or what the component's are needed to upgrade it from the 93kw to the 128kw if needed.

I have got the brouchures from VW on the different new vans available and I can see us being able to afford something around the 30-35k mark second hand.

Any and all advice on the good the bad and the ugly on different models/motors or configerations would be gratefully appreiciated.

Kind Regards

Vwnewby. :)

Hi All,

Have just purchased a 2002 Passat 1.8L turbo(great car for the price). Previously owned a 2006 S-line A4..but my ex got it.

So not entirely new to this type of car. Have had Toyota's and cant say they arent reliable..but for safety & quality, until you've owned Euro you cant compare.

Am keen to give the Passat a little boost but not sure how to go about it the right way, so thought I'd pick up some tips from the experts on here.
I live in Nth Qld so finding the right person for the job is also an issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Chat soon.

Hi All !

I have just recently bought myself a Mk3 Golf GL .. It was love at first sight when i saw her in the caryard !

Black with body color bumpers & trim , Manual, Decent Tint on the windows and Masked Headlights .. Oh and 85,000km on the clock .. not bad for a 97'

I live in the eastern suburbs of melbourne and am very keen to see other peoples Golfs .. and especially Mk3's .. I get a little excited even just seeing another Mk3 in traffic ..

Planning to get some nicer wheels, lower suspension and some euro numberplates ..

Hi everyone,

I have visited a couple of VW site in Australia but so far only found that this site has more information to read. Thank you for all the contributors.

I've got my first owned VW Jetta (been driven a few different VW from some friends) TSI 1.4L Twincharged from Essendon VW - VIC about 5 weeks ago and so far have done over 5700 kms with 1 oil change @ 5000 kms by myself!

I used the car for business so every week I drove average 700-800 normally.

I haven't seen many Jetta owners in here, is there anyone out there???

Cheers.

Hello all.

I've had my T4 Caravelle TDi since September last year and love it.
Soooo many seats!.
I live on the Central Coast (NSW) and it appears that my significant other has been either curb climbing or taking advantage of Gosford council's road maintenance schedule (lack there of) and testing the alloy wheels in the pot holes. Can't have been me...

The wheel balancer guy says that one of the wheels is more square than round. As the we're about to go off to Lake Eyre in 10 days, this is bad news.
New wheel from VW is $800. Anyone got a 15" alloy wheel for a 2002 caravelle? Or a set of after market alloys rated for the vans?

Or for when I get desperate a couple of T4 Transporter steel wheels?

Hi people, Rusty here.
Just taken delivery of a 2009 TIGUAN 147TSI, Reflex Silver with black leather and electrics. Having never owned a European or indeed a Japanise car i am blown away by all the stuff on this car.Heated seats and mirrors + heaps of stuff you will be familiar with no doubt.
It took a lot of getting used to i tell you after jumping out of a 300+ KW 6 speed manual ute to the 147k Tiggy. But every day its getting better and better, in fact lovin it.Looking forward to some basic mods on it when i get a few Ks on it ,only done 850 so far, K & N filter going in this weekend and have upgraded all the lights already.
Hope to gain some info and hopefully pass on some car care tips to those who want.
Cheers guys

Hi All,

I've got V10 Touareg and love it!
Used to have a Audi A3 3.2 DSG (R32 184kw) and that was great too.
Years before that I had the SEAT Ibiza Cupra Sport - a 2.0lt (110kw) Gti engine in a Polo body - that was a fun little car.

My first VW was a 76 2 door hatch with an auto. I was into big cars and at the time had a HJ Statesman and was about to but a Mercury when I saw a golf in a car yard for about $3500. My ex wanted a golf so I signed the papers to by it. When I went home early to surprise her and pick it up I found a mate was cutting my lunch so to speak. I ended up with one less wife and a Golf I didn't want but the car yard said they would sue me if I tried to back out. I was a bit miffed that the car I now owned was the size of the bonnet on the one I wanted lol. But with nothing else to do I started to drive it. I was surprised, here was the type of car we used to joke about at my old car club and it was fun, damn fun. I still remember beating a V8 commodore (One of the first ones VH or something) off the lights and for some time after that. I was fortunate that I saw an add in the trading post for a whole heap of parts cheap, like extractors, manifold and holly that was a clone for some European carb. It was the car that corrupted my redneck streak. Unfortunately after a year or two the fuse box went and I couldn't find one the same. Who would believe that one from the same year and connections would turn the wipers on when you tried to use the headlights :duh:. Suffice to say I had to get rid of it for next to nothing as it was blocking the driveway. I miss that car.
Now due to my daily driver giving me grief on a constant basis (I freaking hate all the electronics) I am back in the market for a VW (around $3000) to tide me over till someone starts making bearings for the Type3 I'm doing up.

I picked up my barnd new 125 TSI (Auto) ~ 2 weeks back. I ordered couple of factory fitted options including, Bi-Xenon Headlights, RNS510 Sat Nav with rear view camera, Silver leaf Metallic paint and comfort package. Window tinting was done by the dealer.

We are enjoying driving our new Tiguan. Navigation system is working great - easy to use. Rear view camera provides a very clear view (day or night) of what's behind and the display of parking guide lines helps to park/reverse with confidence. Also the Bi-xenon lights with static and dynamic cornering lights follow the curve of the road thus improve road visibility to the maximum extend which on its turn increases safety. It is nice to see how lights follow the curve.

Other than that this is a great car and I look forward to being a member.

Cheers

Hi everyone (especially all you Golf fans out there!),

I'm Dominik and I'm based in Sydney (Inner West). I've been a fan of VW Golfs (especially MK1 & 2) for some time now, but it's only now (with my Uni degree finally out of the way + a better job) that I have the time and resources to fully (well, almost fully) commit myself to a MK1 which I don't yet own, but will very soon, I hope. What I'm looking for is a nice GTI example, 3 or 2 door (cabrio) only... I've noticed there's quite a few on sale here, so should be able to find myself something nice soon. I don't really have any questions at this stage as pretty much everything I had to know I found out on this forum already, which is great! Keep up the fantastic job everyone!

Cheers,
Dominik

Hi Folks,
Just joined this community although we've had our Touareg 3.0 TDI MY2009 since October 2008. Love the car and want to do some tripping about. Found some spare 17" wheels in Brisbane for $250.00 each at JAXQuickfit Tyres Bowen Hills. As at 5th Aug 09 they had 7 left.

Hi all!

Name's Rob. I currently reside in Melbourne, and thought I'd join this forum since I'm soon to inherit my mum's 2006 Jetta 2.0T FSI, as she goes on to bigger and better things (most notably a hot new C-class)! Sadly, I'm moving on from my current car, a 2004 Honda Accord Euro, which is a car I've dearly loved and will find hard to let go!

Anyways, I can't say enough about the Jetta! Just drove it out the other night to the car wash just to get a good look at it, and what can I say. She's a beaut! Especially lovin the look from the outside, with the chrome grill and the bug-eyed styling!

I can't talk enough about how good this engine and DSG drive. It is by far the most refined pairing of fine european technology available at this price and even in the price bracket directly above! Simply amazing feel, efficiency, and sheer performance.

Probably early days still, but I am definitely looking at making this beaut my first crack at high-level mods, and given I'm inheriting it for a reasonable price I thought I'd join this forum to see what all the other happy VW owners did to theirs!

Things I'd like more info on, which I will search for are as follows:
*ECU Upgrades for the 2.0 T
*Exhaust upgrade packages
*Cold intake manifold packages
*Good tuners to deal with around Melb
*Warranty issues related to the aforementioned mods (hopefully none :P)
*Insurance experience of fellow modders under the age of 25 :P

Anyways, this looks a fantastic informative forum, and look forward to hearing your thoughts about the car I'm getting and ideas as to how I can wipe this massive smile off my face :D

Cheers!

Rob

Hey all,

Name is Stuart. Been around the forums for about a month now and decided to add to this thread. Some may know I am the new owner of the R32 that WAS fitted with the Altezza lights... Pleased to say these are now gone!

I previously owned a Proton GTi and the R32 seemed a good step up. Very similar in handling characteristics (apart from AWD) but R32 as you can imagine has a lot more power...

So far have had a Pioneer F310BT installed and am very happy with the car so far :checkeredflag::checkeredflag:

I hope there are several Australian Mk1 Golf owners around here who can help me.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved VWs and Audis. My first model car was a Red Matchbox VW Golf GTi Mk 2 8v, and have cherished it ever since. When I was older, I realised my parents had the venerable VW Beetle 1500, as well as a Mk I Scirocco GT. Nowadays, we have a Skoda Octavia 1.6 and it's good going back to the VAG of absence.
:banana::banana::banana:

One day, I would love to own a Mk I VW GTi, Audi Ur-Quattro, Mk II Golf GTi 16v, a Corrado VR6/G60 and a VW Beetle and Mk I Scirocco (so life has come back full circle!!!) Cheers guys, and I cannot wait to indulge into all of this information!!!:bowdown:

Hey there peeps.

Have been reading these forums for quite a while as I have decided a golf gti mkVI is the next car for me.

I came to this conclusion because I am after something with performance and comfort without negating class. I have done a lot of reading and the Mk V gti seems to be a winner in alot of categories I am seeking in my next car. However I do like the look of the VI much more so.

My previous hot hatch was a 99 honda civic type R so I am not stranger to small cars with performance. Unfortunatley the civic was not the most comfortable car in the world. I anticipate the gti will match the civic in performance but will be in a league of its own in the comfort department.

I hope to purchase a black Mk vi and should head on down to the local VW dealer in the next day or so to see if there is anything i need to do. I wouldnt mind taking a gti v for a test drive because I have never used a DSG system before. What do you guys think? Does DSG get boring compared to a manual transmission? Or is the extra performance noticeable enough?

Anyway here is a pic or 2 of my previous car I sold a few months ago. At the moment cruising around in my CRV (not worth posting pics).

Hi there,

I am in the market for a hot hatch and after driving a range of them the GTI MkV seems to be the best combination of grunt, fun and practicality.

I am thinking about pre-order of the GTIMkVI. Have driven the MkV GTI and Pirelli but think it is worth waiting for the new one based on the better interior layout and the reviews of the Mk VI.

Lots of useful info on here - thanks everyone.

I'm Freddie, 40 years old and I'm living in Burgum, The Netherlands. I'm currently driving a 1991 Volkswagen Passat 1.8i CAT Variant (prefacelift). I bought this VW in 2007 after driving an Audi 80 type89 for more than 3 years without any troubles at all. VAG Cars are just great rides!

Thought I'd play by the rules and make my first post. Have been a non-registered lurker for a while. Picked up a Polo Gti a couple of months back. Why? I like small, fun cars and this one fitted the bill. I'm a rotary fanatic but have been 'between rotaries' for a year or so now. Gotta say that the little Polo is nicer to drive every day than a first generation RX-7 ;)

Plans are to enjoy the car, make a few sensible upgrades over time (flash, downpipe, suspension) and not slip back into 'car modders syndrome' and lose mountains of money and many months with the car in a workshop somewhere having bits fabricated.

So far there seems to be some great information on the forum...well done.

My name is Mark
I am a SE Melbournian, Bayside, who is probably 50 % QLDer and 50 % Victorian.

I currently drive a Golf V comfortline ( purchased new from Barloworld Mentone ) with a few extras, which include leather, GPS , sunroof,17 inch Jetta wheels ( the same as the TSI ) however I chose them before B4 Volkswagen did for the Golf:)
Barloworld Mentone was a good place , The head mechanic Jason West was always a pleasure to talk VW with.

I have decided that after 4 years of Golf V goodness ( I couldnt wait for the GTI at the time,10 months waiting list in 2005 ) It may be time to part with mountain goat and go the full monty , given I compromised all those years ago.

I have ordered a white Passat Station Wagon form Barloworld Moorabbin.
I decided to change colours from a silver car to white for the R36.

After ordering about early september I should have it in a couple of weeks .
It has a VIN # showing its the MY10 designation which is a magic A instead of the 9.

I have the satnav , electric tailgate , sunroof ( white mandatory ) as options and will await delivery to confirm the rest ( Paint, Fabric protection, tinted windows etc ). I have to eyeball the baby to finetune without errors.

I must admit to discovering this forum after ordering, however I am so damn excited at finally getting a decent rig. I have had a considerable amount of time to reflect on the purchase and apart from colour, have made the right decision, this is the best car for the price on the market, fully loaded.

I have enjoyed the forum watching as a camper for the last month.
Hi + Peace + Prosperity to you all. This also is not possible without a VW

Cheers

Hi Volks folks, first time poster, although I've had my Golf since new and almost up to 130,000km now, this forum looks like a friendly place. In fact it's the first forum I've ever joined, Yay VW!

Just in the process of purchasing my first Multivan, quite excited about that and probably will have a few questions once I get it home and into my garage (hoping the roof rack won't foul the door:eek:)

Main reason for loving the Multivan; got invited along on a few 800km trips through Germany in a fully crewed Multivan T4, with a designated driver happily sitting on 180kph all day while those of us in the cheap seats drank beer and made merry, poor driver!

I also once owned a 1986 Passat 1.8 hatchback in UK

Good to be here

G'day,

Frankenstrat = Frank & Stratocaster. It rolls off the tongue better than Frankenjazzbass

My late father had two Golfs in his time, a green MkII and a white MkIV. He really looked after those two cars, they were his pride and joy. Sadly, he became unable to drive following some medical problems and it broke his heart when he had to part with his Golf.

There's a distinct possibility that I'll be continuing the Wolfsburg association soon. I have the opportunity of getting a Golf as my next company vehicle so I've been doing my research, most of it courtesy of this fine web site. I've tentatively requested a 118TSi, but I could be persuaded to go for a 103TDi I'll need to start a thread either in the MkVI Forum or the Diesel Forum, I'm not sure which would be more appropriate.

My wife and I went to the VW dealer "just over the Causeway in Victoria Park" to have a look at what they had. We deliberately chose a time in the afternoon when they would be closed, I didn't wantto be pounced upon by an over-zealous salesman. We were both mightily impressed with the MkVI, it's a stunning looking car. I haven't driven one yet, but I know when I get behind the wheel it's going to be superb.

But which to get? Petrol or diesel? Decicions, decisions.

In case you didn't know, I'm in WA.

Greetings all fellow VDubbers,

I have been involved with watercooled VW's for the past thirty years.

My first was a '76 Scirocco which I bought used in the mid-eighties. I always loved the look of them after I'd seen them in Europe and they were (and largely still are) virtually unknown in this country.

My Scirocco was one of the original six brought to this country by VW in 1976(?) to evaluate for sale in this market. I still have it and it's an unfinished project and am thinking of finding it a good home (i.e. selling it) as I've run out of space, time and energy to continue. It's in running order, body restored but needs a complete paint job. Has many technical mods (incl new Audi 2l motor, factory fuel injection, Quaife diff, GTI close ratio 5-sp box, original Bilstein Scirocco gas shock/spring package, etc, etc) and is light, fast and handles well.

I recently sold my restored 77 GolfI coupe for the same reasons: was sorry to see it go! Owned another 77 Golf 4-door before that but it was written-off in a rear-ender.

My daily driver is a 1990 GolfII GTI which has served me well and faithfully since 1998: it has clocked up 250k kms without any major repairs and is rust-free and still delivers good fuel economy although the motor is quite tired. If all cars were like this one, car- makers would be out of business.

We also own an '07 GolfV GTI which is a briiliant car and a great drive.

Hi guys,

I have just purchased a 2007 Black Golf GTI.

I bought the manual version without test driving the DSG.. i thought about getting the DSG, but then my wife would have a reason to drive my car, so i got the manual instead! :)

I am from Melbourne..

I haven't picked up the car yet as its getting serviced and detailed by the dealer.

Am on the brink on purchasing a new 2010 GTI when they hit the floors within the next couple of weeks. Definitely going the DSG but am wondering if the xenons are really worth it?

Any thoughts?

Hi Guys,
Picked up my new Golf Comfortline TSi 118 in United Grey about 3 weeks ago after along 4 months wait. My very first VW! Couldn't resist the options and accessories, end up with the sport package with Black Vienna Leather and must say I love the ride!.....can't believe how much the car loves the corners! Also like the 17" Alloys and static corning light function.
Also opted for the Sunroof, Rear View Camera, with rear parking sensors, Sat Nav with Dynaudio Excite with Media Device Interface and Premium Bluetooth and finally Euro Plates. I'm a little overwhelmed by all the technology, it's exciting and distracting but the more I drive car the more I like it. The DSG auto gear box is taking a bit getting used to, having a problem with the car running backwards as I accelerate, VW service department say this is normal just need apply the hand brake on most hills, I'm not sure what's going on here but I'm going to call into VW and make sure all is OK. Also a slight rattle under the bonnet, maybe this is normal to. I Love my new Golf it's blown me away, can't stop looking at after parking it......a little embarrassing in public!

Hi everyone

first post here - I own a 07 Golf 2.0 TDI DSG and am looking at replacing my Mazda tribute with a Skoda Superb (Super bee) Elegance 2.0 TDI

I am particularly interested in the options I can get, I wanted park assist and side window blinds but the dealer seems to think it will take 4 months to get one..which is a bit of a bummer.

I am also interested in the columbus system with a full phone set up that will work with a blackberry bold

Its Black and its got all the power options as well as the sunroof which is a bonus when you're in the city such as Gold Coast. Hi,

I'm looking at getting the mk6 GTI with DSG. My local dealer has offered to sell me one with no extras for $46k, with a $500 fuel card which includes all on road costs and a $1500 corporate discount.

What do you guys think, is this a good deal?

Thanks,

PS I've just created a new thread with this question as well.

Gday Guys, Had my GTI for about 2 weeks now, living in south west Syd, and loving every second in it!!

It has a stack of mods: APR chip, fmic, hpfp, KW type 2 suspension, Milltek turbo back quad exhaust, H&R sway bars, A Peloquin LSD, Neuspeed short shift kit, upgraded clutch, carbon fiber cold air intake, and 18's.

But with all these mods, not only is it HUGE fun, it also has a huge amount of Torque which happily decided to rip off my front exhaust mount and now makes a horrid metal on metal vibration sound in first gear!!! Not happy! I has a dog bone mount, and a lower torque arm mount to help with engine movement, but obviously its still not enough! Got it booked in to a custom exhaust shop at Carlton next week to see what they can make up for it!

But other than that its a top car, tons of fun, and hopefully will have this small hickup sorted very soon!!

See you all on the road!

Safe Driving!

Performance (DSG), economy, good looking car (silver with sunroof) and has the safety features, entertainment and convenience items which make long trips wonderful. Even with 42k km tyres are still good, though I will be loooking for advice on replacements by Q1 2010.

Hi All,
GF and I just purchased a second hand crewvan t5, pick up thursday after they wack on some roof racks and a towbar. initial plan is to put in a futon on an elevated base so we can put it to use for various sporting weekends away. Original plan was possibly a kombi beach but need a more flexible interior and not so many creature comforts. Planning on slowly decking out the crewvan as we figure out what we do need before heading off for some longer trips.

Hi my name's Tim, I'm from Perth - my first car was a 1978 Golf GLS - had it (and loved it) for three years but it got yellow stickered and de-licenced earlier this year. I don't have the money to get it fixed up so now I have to sell it. No one's interested, though, cos the body work's in crap condition. :(

Hi all, am Dave otherwise known to all and sundry as Squirrel.

Having owned mainly VWs (three Polos - 80, 84 and 98) and Audi Coupes (89 and then a horrible 81 5-cylinder one) back in the UK, i've rejoined the Wolfsburg fold by buying a 1981 Golf GTi that my mate imported about 5 years ago.

Plan is to get this beastie back to its former glory - the hard yards are already done, it just needs tidying up.

Will be hitting you up for advice in the near future. Cheers!

Hi.

Into my second month with my new R32. I have always been a holden owner, Statesman's, SS's, all V8s. I drove a GTI about 12 months ago and was considering buying it for my wife but it all got a bit too hard with financing etc and I really wasn't keen on a four cylinder. So recently took a test drive of an R32 just on a whim and was completely blown away by the power and the note. Couldn't get hold of one quick enough. Available in WA at the time were black ones only which I'm not a fan of. So an internet search turned up an ex demo in NSW, deal done. I would like to give the motor a little tweak, nothing too serious and would welcome anyones advice as to who in Perth you can trust these machines with including general servicing. Im in south east Perth but will travel to where ever for the right service. Also it came with the GPS system which is lame as. Does anyone know of where you can get a better one fitted?

13-11-2009, 04:02 PM
Hi All,
Well last June I purchased an 09 EOS 103 TDi for the wife and have been its keeper and driver when I can wrest it from her. Absolutely love this car.
Did the Krytox thing, ran it in as a diesel should, ( had new turbo diesels in boats in a past life ) and as it was the first European car we have owned since the early 90's I was really surprised by the quality. (Holden Commodore SS's the last 12 years).

So when my left shoulder gave out and gear changing on the Manual SS on the M2 in the morning was becoming extremely painful, I decided to buy the Golf 103 TD 09 build week before last.
Have run it now over 8 days and its a great car. Wife has now taken a shine to it, the Golf that is, and the possibility of taking the Eos to work and back are looking good.

Seriously though, both cars are great and as far coming down from a 6 litre V8 to the 2 litre diesel, is a non issue as the Eos being able now to be opened up gets off the mark quick enough. I expect the Golf the better as it weighs in close to 200 Kg less.

Only issue is the two keys look very much alike ( there is slight colour difference in the VW logo) so a small cable tie to the chrome loop fixed that.

Hopefully I can contribute to the forum in the future.

Klaus
