whats better ? have 205/60r13's
but good grippy tyres are getting
hard to get eg: best i found were
brige's gIII's at $140
I can get 195/50r15 eagle f1 gds3's for $115
but then have to find a cheap rim that
I like . please help sway my decision
what is the ideal offset??
my 13's are different front to back.

15s are ideal on a Mk1.
There are lots of Honda or aftermarket cheap wheels around in a 15.
Try the bay of E.

Speaking from alot of experience with tyres & what not in general.
Stay away from the eagle f1's. They're noisey & grind like absolute hell under hard cornering & braking. Even under light braking they grind. They also like to tram track.

Currently I've got on my Mk1 15x7 ET25 with 195/50 R15 Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 & yes they are expensive, but they are the best tyre I've had so far. (Except for some Dunlop W10's I had along time ago.)
You can push them to the absolute limits. Can't wait to put them to the track.

I wouldn't go any less than ET30 on a mk1 with 15" rims. You'll still have to roll the front & rear arches though.

Regarding the ET, yes I know that I have ET25 on my mk1 & they do scrub lightly every now & then (I've rolled the front & rear arches & cut out the wheel arch trims!), but they are the only wheel I have at the moment & they also give the car a low & fat stance!

I've tried nearly everything from ET45 to ET25 & I reckon if you stay over ET30 you'll be fine with 15" even if you belly ache it!

My two bob!

Toyo TPG/TR1 in 195/50/15. You don't need a wider tyre on a mk1. Should cost $115 for TPG or around $150 for TR1

Look in the wheels andd tyres section for wheels that fit and offset info.

As robyn say 195/50/15 is perfect on a Mk1 and Tyres are cheap.
