Hey guys

Ive ran a search but have not come up with the available answers maybe someone can help me.

My polo is stock as a rock and Im looking to increase the sound of the sucking noise when the turbo kicks in around 2000-3000rpm.

Will changing the stock filter to a K&N air filter change this significantly?

eg. something like this: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2830

If not, how would i go about increasing this sucking noise without doing too many mods?

thanks heaps guys

probably not you would also need to install a SEAT CAI. I think Shaneth sells them for about $160

I've got that type of filter ... but to be honest, I'm not sure how much the engine note has changed because of that because I also have the SEAT air intake, the Forge DV and the Forge TIP ... all combined give a very nice effect.

oh ok

so if i just install a SEAT air intake, then the s=sucking noise will be louder?

thanks

I had the K&N for ages by itself, but the induction noise didn't change that much. I notices a bit more of a change when I added the SEAT intake trunk.
The SEAT intake trunk replaces the standard Polo trunk. It is roughly double the diameter of the standard Polo item.

Another solution (more costly), option would be the BMC CDA intake. That'll definately give you the noise, but the costs errrr... Let's not go there...

I thought the BMC CDA would actually maintain intake noise similar to standard, because of its sealed design.

Can somene using a CDA shed some light on this topic?

I got a CDA and it only make a little more noise over the standard setup...

A bit disappointed... But i only spend 450 for it from the net (plus fittings)...

so its noticeably different if i just change the standard to a SEAT intake trunk?

where did you get yours?

If induction noise is what you're after (guess we all have our priorities) then you're best off installing a pod filter. Use the search function under "pod filter" and member "kai".

Ive tested them all.

Seat intake is crap.
KN Filter is crap.
BMC is slightly better.
Pod filter is nuts. :D
No filter is rediculously good.

Edit: Im talking about noise here. Not performance. So dont get ****ty.

But you have to have no lid on your airbox to make the induction good. You can bolt a pod straight to the MAF sensor. Give that a go and see if you like it. If you do. Then you will need to make some sort of heat sheild cause it will get hot during the day.

Go to autobarn and buy a 15 dollar pod. Comes with a clamp. Give that a go. That should be your only expence from memory in the testing stage. If you continue you need to put a mini filter over that breather hose which i think goes to the water pump.

Actually. If you want the cheapest option.

Take the lid off your airbox and go for a drive. (asin have the maf sensor as the intake. Just let it flop around there in there) It wont harm anything and you will get the noise your after. If you like it. Buy a pod.

Can i actually ask if your telling everyone to bypass the airfilter altogether????:duh:

For testing purposes yeah. 5 minutes isn't going to harm anything. Esspecially where the maf sensor is.

I run a K&N panel filter as it has better airflow than standard, more responsiveness, it is noticable.

Expensive but over the long run beneficial.

I would personally forget about induction noise and fit a nice exhaust with extractors on and a panel filter replacement.

This would sound much better than induction noise, plus better performance.

More costly but if your going to do the job, do it right is my motto.

Slightly off topic I know !
