Personally I've always liked the red car/white wheel look.

Go all out and whack a set of white Compomotives on!

I agree. I may do the same if we go red with the new Polo.

Grey TT rims

HAHA j:, you're not trying to sell him yours by any chance are you?

i'm pretty sure Adam has the Lenso Tenso type M's. look at his sig pic and some of the pics in the honeycomb grill section...

i also like those akuma mars black wheels. if i were to get another set of rims i'd be looking at either something similar to the mars black or a black rim with a red pinstripe.

i like the styling on the lenso's - its great - not the greatest fan of the time attack theme (black wheels with red lip) since that is a fashion thing - and when fashion changes as it normally does then it wont seem to look as good when the next "flavour of the month" is around

having said that though the lenso's are very similar to the wheel im using now

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2008/04/W1-1.jpg

and heres what they look like on my car

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2008/04/W3-1.jpg

sorry for the phonecam pics - will take some better pics sometime soon

bottom line - out of all the wheels the opening poster looked at i think that the lenso's are the best - and those are the ones id chose

i think you should be able to fit them on as they are 17x7. i know that i can get bridgestone potenzas (i think they are like 205/45r 17's) that have the same diamater across the tyre as the standard 14inch steel wheels with hubcaps that i have on my polo tdi- the only thing is as good as the enkeis would look, i DO go up and down to the snow a bit (3-4 times a week, day trips from melbourne) and i cant get the car lowered too much because i need to be able to put on chains, plus a super low profile tyre would be hell on some of the dodgier parts of the roads outside melbourne.

so i figured that a higher ride+big big wheels= it looks like im driving a clown car.

the price is good, though. wheels+ tyres for what, 1600aud? vw was quoting me more than 3000aud for their "exor" 17" wheel and tyre package, and those wheels dont look nearly as good as the enkeis in my opinion.

i mean, sheizer- if i was gonna spend more than three grand on factory wheels, i might as well go all out and get the official best looking wheels in the world- BBS CH (according to me).

hey red, did you get the 17's or 18's, cause mine are 18's and i think they make the polo stand out:biggrin:

i'm only guessing but i'd say a set of OZ bought in australia would be at least 2 grand for the wheels alone.

importing from america (www.tirerack.com) is said to be cheaper

I've recieved my Audi TT wheels, they are pretty badly marked, but not much touch to the alloy.

So I will need to have them repainted.

Wheels currently look like this:

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2010/03/newwheels2-1.jpg

I was thinking a light silver as I like white wheels with a red car, but know I'm not going to be diligent enough for pure white...

Opinions?

dont be soft. Bright silver is just as hard to keep clean as white. Believe me :brutal:

go white! and get some 205/40's for those puppy's. Dont get goddam truck tyres for the love of god!

225's will rub with that offset and width (been there) and the 205 will have just the tiiiinnniieessst amount of stretch (with a 7.5" wide wheel) to set off the cars look.

45's look like a MONSTER profile on a Polo with 17's. You'll regret it

Toyo Proxy 4's are a great tyre and come in the 205/40 spec :)

I've spoken to a local shop, need to talk to them again. Do you know someone?

I've been wanting something that will sit as wide as is reasonable (without spacers) since I got my last rims. I really like my current wheels, but want some width. Hope I don't have to take it up any...

I think I'll keep my current tyres as finances are tight. I was thinking about these for track purposes, but the low offset does not allow anything wider than the 205...

White ey... I think I'll see what they can do in a white/silver'ish sorta thing...

I just had bad gutter rash repaired and the guy who did it was working on a set of wheels changing them from Dark Gray Metallic ones to Polished Metal look ... they looked very nice. I was talking to him about painting wheels and the stuff he can do ... anyway, only had rash repaired but if you want another quote talk to "Magman - Workshop for Wheels", he is at Punchbowl on 9709-2686.

what offset are the Audi wheels?? 32???

best to keep your other wheels as track wheels. Those TT wheels will look bollocks with some 205/40's! I know my 17x7.5's ET35's fill the guards nicely with the 205's.

Although I wouldnt mind spacing the back juusstt that little bit :)

I reckon anthracite grey looks good. White and bright silver get too dirty, but then they look pretty flat, easy to clean.

01-04-2010, 08:38 AM
Yeah 32, I think they are going to be spot on. They will be about as wide as the car can accommodate.

Don't think I'll keep my Siatas for the track, they are too nice to store away so will sell them, hopefully to someone on here so I can see them in action. They are not too heavy, but want something lighter for track work.

Ok, so I've decided to paint my wheels gray with a gloss finish.

The question is which grey! I'm after something between white and charcoal / anthracite / 50/50 (black white).

Any images or codes would be appreciated.

Dropped my wheels off this morning for undercoat and collected this afternoon.

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2010/04/undercoat-2.jpg

They are coming up quite nicely, I'm glad as so far I've spent more than 10 hours cleaning, filling and sanding the wheels... Good thing I have lots of time on my hands.

I've changed my mind on the colour again, I'm thinking a medium to dark silver with a very subtle blue in it to contrast to the red of the car. The wheels will not look at all blue, just give a better contrast to the car.
Its handy having a GF who does design and has an eye for these things...
