Good to see your going to compete Rob. One night after work you and I are going to walk that course so I can point out a couple of tricky spots. One in particular can catch out front wheel drives big time. I warned britchie andd he didn't listen to me and promptly spun the first time up! He was lucky not to hit anything as a few others did. I finished 4th there last year behind an EVO, a modified Escort and GTR nissan. 3 minutes out of the heart of the city too, its a great venue, great views if you don't join them!! Its bumpy though. I hope that the forum members can get along to support Rob on the day. It really is good spectating too I would think. I haven't spectated there before but this year I spose I will be......:(

cheers guys will catch up with you very shortly. Need new tyres first aswell o well should be worth it.

Rob ! you won't need new tyres for the hill climb, just old ones ,remember new tyres have tread which is the enemy of track work unless its p*ing with rain.

The wheels don't stay on the ground all that well up there. They jump from tree root to same.

Might just buy one new conti and then ill have 2 good ones and 2 buggered ones just worried they wont pass SCRUTINEERING lol umm can any one tell me why on the list of ppl my car is down as 3600cc is this due to the turbo???

For forced induction you have to multiply the capacity by 1.7, so should be 3060cc not 3600cc. Regardless, I doubt this would influence the engine capacity/induction type class that you are in ;)

The Domain Hill Climb is well suited to the smaller Polo/Golf entrants! It is very tight, narrow and gives very little opportunity for the likes of GTRs and GT3s to open up :)

Good luck...you should enjoy it :)

I won't be going in this year as a competitor, last year I ran in the Imp, and along with Andrew had a great time.

Be a good learning experience for you Rob!

This will be the 4th year running I think. It goes from below the watertanks up to the adventure playground. They also run hilldlimbs on the old road up to Collinsvale as well. Great coures but bumpy with tree roots under the bitumen. Fantastic fun!:D
If you lived down here, do I know you? Did you have VWs?:)
Will have to get some pics of pologti next sunday

Look's tough with the steelies on Rob.
What happened to the RHF guard/bumper?
Good circuit?

Mainland black mk1? I hope that's tyre smoke & not the usual oil smoke!

Don't think it was off the tyres, not sure. Certainly was a big puff though:D

The black Golf would be Golfwise and its a standard lots of klms 1.8 8 valve.
I would say the smoke is from the motor as we usually overfill them for these type of events when they are standard.
These type of motorsport events are great fun for little effort and the Vws seem to relish a good thrashing.

Hey! I finished 4th outright with your motor last year. Only got done by an EVO, a GTR N1 and the Escort. How about the Subie this year that was hammering up there? Claims he has spent $150,000/$200,000 on it! Had some power. He also owned the Ford GT40 replica. Doing it tuff, I would say!!:)

That's the "Autocraft prize-customer mobile" :o

Over 350kW and 650Nm+ at the wheels!! It would want to be winning anything and everything for that crazy money :o

well i can live happily with a 16v! there sure is some money floating around out there! the autocrafty crafters hey! they do a great job. tassie needs another good performance workshop for some compatition! haha. that subi was insane!

14-09-2006, 08:21 AM
How insane could you get a Golf going for $200,000? Get a new R32, then spend $130,000 on it? No Subaru is worth that much!:)

Although not an r32 that swedish guy with the Mk4, that has the Audi engine in it is 4wheel drive with like 600KW. He spent about $250000, that car is insane, ive got a full article on it somewhere in a zoom mag.

the HPA R32 is 500hp twin turbo... that wouldnt cost $100,000 to do :) maybe about $10g's, and that would be quicker than that WRX ;)

To me no Golf or WRX is worth that kind of money! I'm not disputing how money it cost's to build these cars as I know how much you can throw at high performance cars.

Um $10g, I'd hate to tell you golfman but,

First you have to buy a R32. Conservative $45000!
HPA(HGP who's the manufacturer) 542PS/710Nm kit 30'000euro ($50,451.16 AUD!) kit only

Then add roughly 13'000euro($21700AUD) for misc. like upgrade front & brakes, upgrade gearbox internals & gearing to cope with power upgrades etc.

If you don't believe do a check. http://www.hgp-turbo.de/
I can read enough of it to know.

Trust me this stuff isn't cheap.

Lets see $117'151AUD. that's without all of the tax, duty & freight on the parts. Then add the machining costs & engineering/EPA certificates. Oh & labour!

Feel free to correct me.

Another eg. EIP kits. A turbo kit alone will set you back approx $20'000AUD.
Then you have to upgrade the trans, brakes, driveline the lot.

You could build it yourself for less but ask bugracer how much his VR6 will cost finished.
I know my 20VT engine/trans combo will cost easily $25G incl. buying the engine & without buying the car!
This stuff isn't cheap!
