They are very nice! Good range of colours too. It's in this issue 'Wheels' Mag (Aus).

i love it too.

I wonder how popular its going to be here in Aus.

I like it more than the mk5 GTi. If it comes out with a 3.2 V6 that will be awesome.

I am over 2dr cars, so unless the Scirocco comes out in a 5dr then I don't think I will be showing much more interest.

It should be called corrado. has no resembelance or heritage to the rocco in my opinion.

And why would you want a 4 door sports car? Thats a Golf of a Passat mate.

Its more about what they can market effectively more than than anything else. Has the new monster Skyline GTR got anything to do the first, what 4 generations of the car? No, its just good sense to use the name and give potential customers and sense of the heritage and background of the car.

And besides are you in the market for a sub-50k sports hatch/coupe/whatever anyway? Didn't think so  I'm pretty sure VW never set our to target classic VW enthusiasts with this car, so it looks like they're doing fine to me atm.

Also a variant of this car is apparently going to come out with the S3 190kw motor and AWD... can't wait :)

I already have a 2dr sports car and wanting a 4dr so that's one reason why I wouldn't get a Scirocco. I'm looking at getting a GTI soon.

Will it be the same price difference as the UK. Think on new Topgear they said it was $300 more than the golf.

Yep topgear last Sunday had one in their studio, great looking car, has the same spec engine as the GTI and is $650-900 AUD dearer (300 Pounds), Although I believe this is the 3 Door GTI they are comparing it to.

VW Australia is agonising over this car, because the price is effectively the same as the 3 door Golf.

Apart from being able to get supply, their problem is pricing it here. They don't want to lose 3 door GTI sales, so they will have to make it dearer, which will push it into R32 territory. At this price, no-one would buy it, they'd get the R32 - at least I would.

I reckon there's a big chance it won't come here at all.

They are selling very few 3 door golfs to steal sales away from. Rocco would affect ALL golf sales as people wouldn't want a hatch over a sexy coupe. Likewise people won't want to pay $5K more than the golf when the price is the same overseas!!!

What is VW worried about :duh: it still counts as VW sales in the end :driver:

I say VGA should bring this out :bluesbro:

Yep, there's no reason why they shouldn't, just means they have to make a balance act between the two models.

They should first try and test out the market with a limited run something like they did to test the Aus. market with the GT, then go from there.

Nah Dave, its FWD....

I've had my last FWD for a while.

Now if it was 4Motion I'd be tempted for sure.

The new Wheels (P84 July edn) has a nice article on it though.

If they can make money on the car (which they won't) they'll put it up for sale and keep in mind the kind of competition for that price bracket as well. Its going to be hard for VWA to do well with this car if they bring it in :frown:

If people wanted a better looking car they'd get the 3dr over the 5dr GTI IMHO so why don't we see many 3dr GTIs on the road? A lot of people need the extra doors for kids etc but want a bit of pep too.

As to the price dif, people still want the new GTR don't they yet it's twice it's domestic price
