My extremely bad German must be misleading me, can anyone expand on this?

I think it says VW will stop making Golfs for USA/Aus? I dont believe it, but can someone translate anyway?

Dont be so sure. I can read German and that article flat out says that the Golf might not be sold to Australia, Brazil and America citing that its not bringing VW enough money. He wants a profit of 5% on all sales of cars but at the moment they are only making 3.4% profit.

Hope its not true.

English version of what is going on....noticed the bit they say about Canada in the fact they continue to get the Mk4 or something? Cant see how that would work for the Mk5 though as I thought it was supposed to be more expensive to make than the Mk6, i don't think much will come of it but interesting none the less.

How can this be? I reckon the vw are is growing on a curve, I see more GTIs than any other MKV models.

that it has.. but it has also been excessvily unprofitable for VW hence if the mk6 happens they are ditching the fancy rear suspention and going back to cheaper beam axels and cutting costs hard..

VW Denies It Will Pull Rabbit From U.S.

HERNDON, Virginia — Volkswagen of America said it is proceeding with plans to launch the next-generation Golf hatchback in the U.S. in fall 2009, contradicting widespread reports in the European press that the German automaker planned to pull the car — sold here as the Rabbit — from the U.S. market because unfavorable exchange rates have slashed margins.
