Hey All,

A long time ago, I bought a Kyosho 'Mini-z" radio controlled car, very detailed small scale electric car (google mini-z). You can buy a series of chassis's and then buy optional bodies to fit on them. My boss was in Japan recently and brought back a GTI body for my chassis. Pics attached. It's pretty sweet.

Cheers

You can purchase them directly from Japan from Hobby Link Japan (www.hlj.com). You can purchase the Mk5 GTI shell in either red or white or white based for personalised colours. They charge the rrp in Japanese Yen + shipping to your location which is reasonable to get items such as these. A complete kit would be approximately $200 shipped to Australia (which will give you everything you need, minus batteries).

The problem is the Mini Z's have been phased out again. The first generation car's werent a huge success over here and the importer hasnt bothered importing the 2nd generation Mini Z's. The 2nd generation Mini Z's are divided into various classes - mini, medium, large, and 4wd.

The cheaper option for mini-z bits is any of the Hong Kong RC shops;

I've dealt with all of the above and they are all good, and safe.

Another option you have with mini-z bodies is using 1/24-1/25 scale model kits. You do need to adapt the body to fit on (usually velcro is the easiest way) but it works well and you can get almost any body you want in a model kit.
