Nah, the drive across the nullarbor is too boring for me and not good for running in a new motor :) And with current fuel prices it would probably be cheaper for me to just hire a track for a day for myself here in Canberra.

What's on the agenda, I heard you get to wear out Skoda's tyres, not your own ? I wonder if they will do a NSW/ACT day as well ?

Not sure about wearing skoda's tyres out, no mention of that, just bring yourself/car/closed shoes/ and license. Be good if they did supply tyre's.:)

"The four hour programme (valued at $165) starts with a quick theory session on Performance Driving techniques, including vision, seating posture, cornering and braking techniques, smooth driving and weight transfer and then you get to put it all into practice on the skidpan! This course is not available to the general public."

Somehow I had the impression they were supplying the cars (hence my comment on wearing out Skoda's tyres). Obviously I was wrong.

Can't go due to work, unfortunately. I thought they were supplying the rides, as I specifically asked about this when the drive day was first mentioned? - but then I've been out of the loop since saying I couldn't go. I definately wouldn't be going if I had to use my own tyres - anybody priced those Exalto's yet? -eek! There was a bright yellow RS sedan with NSW plates on, parked in the corner of the workshop at Osb Park VW a few weeks ago, which made me think this was perhaps one of the press cars to be used for the drive day.

Be sure to let us know how it goes...

Maybe they think diesel drivers aren't interested in thrashing the crap out of their press cars? :nana:

What a awesome morning, rained occasionally, made the track slippery. Huge praise to Skoda and their stability control program. Instructors certainly made you hang on tight initially, doing a tight slalom around 80km/h, then simulate emergency stop with a right turn. Tear around the circuit, for the best part accelerating flat out for a set of 3 cones in front of you, then just yank the wheel to the right (no brakes) and hang on tight  Was demoed with stability program on and off. Quite a difference being in the back of a 4X4 TDI wagon, sliding sideways
They had a VRS, TDI 4X4 wagon, and 2.0 TDI Wagon available for use. Funny enough could also use a roomster, which incidentally went into the grass with the stabilty program off (to the drivers credit the program was turned off at the instructors encouragement) :) One instructor likened it to a pizza deilvery van
I had a bash in all the octavia's available, after going through the circuit multiple times, I have huge confidence in the abilty of the car to get you out of a bad situation.
Was in the back seat of the VRS with the instructor in the drivers seat, he turned the stabilty program off and pushed the car to its limit around the circuit flat out. He did about 6 laps, on the last lap he managed to get oversteer and we slid out, banged my head on the side pillar and broke my sunnies :duh: :)
Was a awesome day, skoda had a photographer out there, so expect some good pics soon.

Just had a visit to the battered Skoda's in Osborne Park... got another one for you!

Later in the afternoon the Marketting woman came to the AHG track.... took the vRS for a spin and at the let me say it right... at the salum rather then turning right immediately and swerving left she continued LEFT and drove into the grassed area with a large water puddle!!!!! Mud splashed all over the vRS!! I laughed muchly when I heard about it!!
