Mp3 ???

Hey Guy's,

just a quick question, probably silly and been answered before. Looking at buying a second hand Passat or Golf GTi, nothing older than 2006. MY question is, do any of the stereo units play mp3, including satnav units, or is that a MY08 thing. Was also told that any unit with silver finish buttons will play mp3. Is it true?. My partner will kill me if I buy a car without mp3:grin. :

Easiest thing to do:

Make up a CD of MP3's. Take it with you when you are checking out 2006 model cars that you are interested in. If CD works, you're in. If it doesn't....:???:

Others may have more "experience" with with models vs features....but that is my "noob" advice (I am yet to own a VW...that will change in about 4 - 6 weeks)

The MP3 capable players have the word "mp3" in small white writing ontop of the CD slot.

If it's not there, chances are it doesn't play MP3s, but you can bring a cd with mp3 songs on it to test anyway as suggested above.

otherwise buy a nice new Alpine unit slot it in, and you will have MP3 and you can run your ipod too.

or an mp3 xcarlink so u can put em on a USB stick, i keep meaning to get one, but have got 4 or 5 CD's of mp3's in teh car and just keep swapping them, not ideal but it works
