Hello All,

I have had my 2004 W8 Passat for a couple of months now - love it!! The only thing is that I was told by the dealer where I bought it that there are only 17 of these in Australia. Is there anyone else out there that has one??? Cheers, Peter.

bahahahahahaha......a 1.8T 4cyl FWD is better than a 270hp 4Motion W8....hahaha...no no....thats good! j:

i'm hoping it was a joke :)

i've read several review on these cars and although they don't seem to shape up to the critics expectations....but i'd be pretty happy to own one with all the bits and bobs that come with it.........supercharger anyone??

Thanks Guys - I'll have to get the camera out but not before I pay some serious homage to the exterior! I got the car in Jan (couldn't afford an A6 4.2 Quattro) Saw it on drive.com.au and couldn't believe the price ($31k) . I have been in love with the W8 for ages but never thought I could afford one. Anyway it goes hard - I use it in tiptronic when I can - Goes heaps better. So standby for pics. Maybe get to it this weekend!

Welcome mate. I've got the brakes off a W8 Passat. :D
Definitely post up some pics. Out of curiosity, what type of fuel economy do you get out of W8? I'm interested to see if it's as fantastic the R.

I bought my 2003 (43000 kms) model in March of this year. I have travelled 12000 kms since then and can't be happier.

I was told that there were 13 in Australia but who cares. It is still a unique motor car and, if it wasn't so much fun to drive, I would put it in mothballs in the garage and lock it up for a quarter of a century.

A couple of questions. Have you upgraded the Sat/Nav CD at all and how do you go about using the TMC and TIM features?

Also, I would love other W8 owners to join in.

Btw, nice pics of your W8 in another thread.

I've seen one sitting at the Volkswagen place on the corner of Church and Highett St in Richmond for the past couple of week Silver one.

Pretty sure it is the same one that was for sale at South Yarra last year.

There was a white one in the Vic Park Perth dealership about 6 months ago and I didn't have my camera. :duh: It was going for about $35k and it didn't last long. I now carry the camera all the time ... but not $35k

Thats a seriously good price dude. Weren't they a $100K car new?

How many km's? As long as its not beat up, you on a winner there mate.

Like my wife's 2004 A3 2.0T Quattro (36000km) i picked up for $28K, you gotta love the bargains that are out there at the moment.

Its one upside to the current economic crisis i suppose.
