Surely if they can fit a 3.6l donk in there, where is my 3.0 TDI!!

Good to see some stock coming through.....I put my order in last week and now have an anticipated build of week 2, 2009.....add shipping etc, this is going to turn into a 9 month wait.

Welcome AJD :D

Is yours a Diesel or Petrol ?

We went for the diesel with leather, satnav, park assist (for the wife), comfort and off road packs. We stayed with the standard alloys to keep a little more ride comfort.

Having driven Euro diesels for the past 8 years I can not bring myself to buy a petrol. In my opinion, and with my driving style, the diesel is the best.

We hope that by the time we eventually get the Tig, some of the accessories will be available and the general belligerent attitude of VGA has received the appropriate adjustment.

Followed up the dealership today and was told we MAY see the car in June or July next year. What we were previously told was a scheduled production date has been pushed out further.

Great vehicle but not worth a 12 month (or possibly longer) wait. Decided to cancel the order and no longer bother with VW.

Don't blame you, that's a long wait and as usual, VW don't seem to be able to be definite with delivery.

Cheers

Did the same and bought a Nissan X-trail diesel manual - averaged 6.8l/100 first 1000kms.

Still keeping the Bora V6 though.

Hi AJD

That's nuts. I ordered my Tiguan at the end of June (147kw) and back then the dealership said possible delivery Nov/Dec. Contacted the dealer at the end of July and they were able to give me a consignment number, build date of November and said delivery would now be March 09. I checked with the dealer again late last week. Am waiting for their return call tomorrow. All I can hope is the petrol version needs to be released sooner rather than later in Australia and mine comes in the first batch. But i'm not holding my breath. Luckily i'm not in a rush to get it and my '03 Golf Sport can keep me on the road til it comes!

Is anyone else waiting for a petrol Tig?

Cheers
D

Build date of Nov (2008 ?) and delivery in March 09 - even by the normally sluggish VAG standards that is remarkably slow progress !

These sorts of delays sound a lot like the early days of the Mk 5 Golf GTI - it is no wonder people look at alternatives that are actually available within a reasonable time frame.

The inordinate delay in delivery is another example of poor customer care from VWA.
In defense of the dealership I had ordered through, they rang me last week and told me they had "sourced" 4 Tiguans if I was still interested.
The official line from VWA on their inability to deliver was as follows:
"The new Volkswagen Tiguan is great value and unique to the Australian
market with its design and features. It is regrettable however that this
has led to an overwhelming worldwide demand which is currently exceeding
production levels.
For this reason unfortunately some dealerships are experiencing delays.
We are disappointed to hear of the cancellation of your order."

Perhaps someone from VW needs to get out of their bunker and get a clue - yeah, great vehicle but cancelled orders are not sales - with some luck some VWA execs will have their annual bonus effected, maybe then they will listen to customers?
