I have stopped school and started working full time so now I have money (which im supposed to save for further education next year, pfft!!!) :)

But i plan to spend some. Im looking at wheels and/or coilovers for the Mk1.

My question is Where do i find some?? Can i get them in Aussie?? Obviously I would like to spend as little as possible. I have been looking on the net at U.K sites like venommotorsport.com

Any help would be great

cheers

Try this place. Valver put me on to them.

They quoted me KW V2 $2350.

I checked up & there one of the best coilovers available.

KW are very good coilovers indeed. If your budget doesn't stretch that far however FK Highsport from Gwent VW in the UK. Great guys to deal with.

They ship to oz for about $250 but to get the best price it pays to call them up. Prices on the website include VAT which you wouldn't pay being in Australia so I guess knock 17.5% off online prices + 250 bucks shipping for final fee.

I got KW V2 from ebay Germany, all up costing me $1,500 aus with the postage charges included. Luckily I paid no tax as the items were split and valued under $1,000 per parcel (2 parcels). Sometimes customs track multiple items from same sender, so if you do this, ask the sender to post at different times or use another name. Unfortunately this happened with my BBS RS001 wheels where I had to pay customs import tax.

Alternative site to check out is www.tunershop.com

Thanks for the tip aussieG60. I have been to turnershop.com. Interesting. I wonder what their coilovers are like. I have just asked for a quote on shipping. They have a nice choice of wheels too.

just got a quote form tunershop.com on the shipping cost of their coilovers.

They have their own brand of coilovers. Not sure what they would be like. Looking at about AUS$1200 for the coilovers and shipping to Aus. USD$75 shipping cost to Aus which is pretty damn good I think. But they are a "no name brand" coilover. :?

They also have KW

The tunershop look similar to Weitec coilovers with the green springs.

Add 15% import duty and 10% GST on cost of item and shipping and 'no name' coilovers are going to cost $1650 ;)

Remember that US-made products don't incur any import taxes anymore after the Free Trade Agreement. I got my exhaust and headers here for nothing more than the purchase and postage price :)

I've not seen any good US-made coilovers, though!!! My KWs cost about $2600 all up, but the ride quality is ridiculously good and they're worth every cent. H&R are very good too, but about the same price :( Not tried FKs, but apparently the Konigsport ones drive really well. You can get them in Aus from www.europeanautotech.com.au... at least, you used to be able to; they're not on the site anymore...

No disrespect to Brian is it? but their prices are through the roof, like trying to get a front mount intercooler for an A3 1.8T.....forget about it!
