very interesting data on globes posted on the OZaudi forum

http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html

would appear that:

4000k is the brightest...
6000k is the best balance of light and blue tinge...
anything above that, you're losing brightness but getting a cooler looking blue light...
above 12000k and it starts becoming purple,
the "k" doesn't indicate how bright it is.

Are you after HID or normal halogen globes?

Philips crystal visions or philips diamond visions would be the best ?
but like mentioned above, as the color temp (K) increases, your visibility/brightness decreases so essentially what your asking doesnt go hand in hand with "whitest/brightest"

no HID.... just normal globes will suffice.

ok,i get ya...maybe whitest then as atm there is a visible difference between the very white angel eyes and the globes which are yellowy white:(

the calibre ones at supercheap are also an option. apparently fast 4s mag reviewed all the bulbs, and they came heaps well rated.

the xenon blue ones apparently give off a whiter light, but the 50+% more light ones are clearer.

In all honesty I don't think you'll get as white with the intensity require as those LED's unless you go HID's. Halogen is very limited in its spectral output where as HID's open up those upper ranges. A 6k Halogen is a very different color to the naked eye to a 6K HID and the luminescence of the HID far betters the halogen globe at that range also. The spectral rang of a halogen globe diffuses much quicker than a HID resulting in a light with out the range of a HID (i.e. it blends and dims to the background quicker).

You will have to drill into the back of your lights to fit HID's so that something also to consider, but being Hella Celis, I'd imagine the backs are interchangeable with the originals.

One final note to consider is the price. A HID kit with transformers (one for each side) is going to set you back about $170. Not sure what the highest end spec halogens are but that is what your going to have to look at to get something that is comparable.

From what I've read the philips ones are the closest. I will be using them as my parkers soon as they are looking very yelow as opposed to the HID's I now have installed.

Let us know what you go with. :)

George Philips Crystal Vision is the brightest and when I used them on the VR they where awesome and the light was heaps brighter if you ask me, they where the whitest I could find and was quite happy with how they performed.

Also using phillips cystal vision, but only in the low beams, they don't have the distance i want, so i have blue vision in the highs. In my G/F's yaris, which only has H4's and no seperate reflector or globe for high beam, i used Blue vision, so as to get enough light to see by, and still look good.

Just so I'm up to speed here, are these just like normal globes, the phillips diamond vision and what not's? so will the fit into any std head lights??

Casuse I wouldn't mind having brighter lights, or something blue to make me look like a lexus!

That's right Jarred. You just gotta match the type of bulb. For instance I know my Mk3 uses H1's, I'm not sure about yours mate. I know when I have some spare money I'll definitely be upgrading my headlight bulbs, the yellow oldness is horrible!

No

Crystal Vision is the whitest and brightest as the next one up is actually bluer than white.

yes, crystal is whiter, but i found blue vision (which is the modle under crystal) to be brighter.

After crystal vision, is diamond vision, which are a mad blue, but you can't see ****.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought they advertised Diamondvision not to have any blue in there? I think I'll be going Bluevisions when i got 50 bucks spare....I've seen them in a friend's car and they look fine for what I'm after:) George from seeing your halo's it looks as if bluevision may match well, but that's just my opinion:)

can you mix with a really white and blue globes, ie., have blue parkers and white main headlights or something?

Mrk_Mickey

Blue parkers make REALLY blue illumination (but not v.bright), and white lights IMO would completely overpower the output unless you were consciously looking for blue tint INSIDE the headlight casing..

Hmmm...I bought some crystalvisions today, thinking it would be better than bluevision with better light output supposedly, etc etc..

TBH I'm not that impressed. For 100 bucks I could have spent money on bluevisions and maybe some other type of high beams too..Don't ask why I changed my mind from Bluevisions lol:)

$100 on bluevisions? I assume your talking about 4 bulbs?

I recently did 4 bulbs on my car for under $70 with bluevisions.
shop around when buying bulbs, autobarn can be a fair bit higher. -
I paid around $16 a bulb for H1 and even cheaper for H3 which was something like $13, all from bursons.

autobarn for the same was like $60 a pair

Haha nah man crystalvisions. I should have got bluevisions, which were 60 at autobarn yeah.

16 a bulb for a philips bluevision globe??

What's Autobarn's refund policy.....hahaha

I have Blue Vision in my Caddy and Crystal Vision in my Calais.

This is what it looks like driving with Crystal Vision...

The Blue Vision globes are slighty whiter than the stock globes and have made no difference in light output from what I can tell when driving. The Crystal Vision globes however, are a lot whiter compared to both stock globes and Blue Vision globes but loses out on light output when compared to the other two.

So if you had to choose between Blue Vision and Crystal Vision for whiteness, I would have to say go with the Crystal Vision.
