Thats right, a nouther new boot install!

This time, its all about space saving and weight saving.

Its starting with a JBL GTO 1002D 10" DVC sub, in a DNA prefab box, with a nice curved mesh grill. I plan to build a floor, with the mono rececsed into the floor, and leave the 4ch on the back of the seat, where it is now. I'd recess both amps, but they don't match. i may even hide the ono in the side covers i built for the previouse install.

Pics as the work happens!

It made a normally fast car, very slow. Most of the old insatll will remain, including the parcel shelf. I'm thinking, hide both amps, in the sides, faulse floor, to keep everything flat, and set the sub off to one side. Very neat, pretty stelth. At a later date, i might do a custom box, and intergrate it better.

Made it slower? I have seem people take out 50kg sub + box and only improve the quater mile by 0.2-0.3sec. Fuel economy will suffer more than anything.

I think its just a good excuse to pull it all out and play again lol.

Ok, time for a pic less update.

I have hidded both amps. One, on a bourd inside the spare wheel well (the 4ch) and the other, behind a panel, covering the left side wheel arch and strut. There is anouther panel on the right side covering the othe strut, but the remaining space was too small to fit the 4 channel, which would have allowed me to keep my spare. Alas.....
Time for the floor. I intend to build a floor with a lid in it, so i can accsess my 4 ch, maybe with the VW logo in it, we'll see as it happens.
Tyhe prefab box is going walkabout. In its place will be a triangular 1cf corner box, tucked away, in the front left corner of the boot.

All this wiil be trimmed in black carpet. I may add some lighting at a later date, but i have no plans for it at this point.

In other news, i need a new parcel shelf.
I'm thinking of making it myself, as i want to hide the magnets of the 6.5" and 4" speakers that will reside there (along with the tweeters, but they don't exatly take up alot of space) And the wireing.
Should be fun.

Well it should be pretty good, at least you know exactly what you want to do. Always tricky hiding things, but that is half the fun!

Lighting should be a must, how else are you gunna show off when your at Macca's :???:

Well thats the problem, there is going to be nothing to show off! It should all be hidden when its done, bar the sub. I just want to go super neat, and almost practical, and hopefully, not very heavy.

Yeah well that's true, hidden is always good however cleaverly placed lights will make important things more highlighted.

I am looking foward to some UPDATE PICTURES!!!

A nother update.
Nearly finnished my new sub box. its a 900mm wide, 400mm tall triangle, that will see my 10" JBL sub mounted centraly against the back seat, facing the boot.

Its a very neat fit in the boot, and will be oh so tidy when its done!

Sounds good though dude.

Just to annoy you, STILL NO PICS!!!:D

The box is done, air tight, and is a little bit bigger than the 1cf that JBL list as a minimum. maybe 1.5cf. Still punches realy hard, and handles the double kicks of grind core (about 12 beats per second!!!) like only a 10" sub could. the larger box also helps get it a bit lower for the R&B stuff, but it's no 12". And couldn't hold a candle to the old 15" for R&B.

I'm going outside right now to make a dress plate, and i'll have a look at doing the hatch in the floor.

Very nice mate, that looks bloody awsome. Nice work!
Neat and tidy, everything hidden, just the way it should be ;)

Looks like you have covered up the sides aswell? I like it :)

Grrr, keep saying it, but should get stuck into my boot install soon, need to hide them damn amps and get me a new sub!

ScienceVR6

yep, the sides are covered as well, and i'm doing some lighting tonight.

And i'm starting to think it loks like an open mouth, in a comic sort of way, and i'm thinking about adding a big fat red tounge, with a capacitor as a tounge bolt. I'll think about it.

no, its a 10"

Thats the problem i'm having, couse the black hides all the shapes of the boot, and the white is so big, i need to do somthing to break it up.

:D lol it does look small. Size isn't everything.. so they say ;)

Put some VW logo's on the white or something classy like your last install.

I agree, I reckon you should do like an raised VW logo with vinyl or soemthing. The plain black and white simply hides and does no justice to your workmanship.

OK, how about this?
My brother screen printed one of his t-shirt designs onto the lower section, and i think it looks wild! The phot's do it no justice, i'm not very good with a camera.

THats a cool print.. how the heck did he do that?
I also suggest do a black line to seperate the 2 white triangle, the line would compliment the sub and the surounding black, breaking it up a bit.

anyone want to buy a full stereo installation?
The box is 1.4cf, but very shallow. Its set up for a JBL GTO 1002 sub, but it would take just about any 12" you could name, but you would have to invert the sub.
I will include the mono amp, and cap. also, the parcel shelf, the rear 4" splits, the crossovers for the splits, side pannels, floor, trims the lot!

Pick up only, make an offer
