Hey all,

Ive retrofitted a 5NA035045D into my 2017 Tiguan.

Its mostly been fine, Carplay working etc. One issue Ive been having though is after 1 min of the car being on, the navigation/gps shuts off and gives me error Navigation data in infotainment system not valid. Check data

So I tried to update the maps, downloaded the latest from VW Navigation maps update. Put it on a fresh new SD card formatted to exfat (and tried ntfs/fat32) Placed the contents of the nav updates, so USB looks like this:

mib1
mib2
metainfo2.txt

Then after loading the contents, SD card is read successfully, but after clicking MIB Navigation Update (i think that was the wording) it hits me with a screen that says Select device

But the start button is greyed out. With a bunch of the contents that have NA or ERR or F

Ive tried 2 different SD cards, with different update files too. No luck, any advice?

Where did the unit come from. If overseas possibly wont accept an out of area map Go into the units system page and post a pic with its details of hardware, software and present map version.

To post pics go down to ADVANCED at the bottom and then "manage attachments" and add photo from there. No need for exterior apps then

Is it an unlocked unit? Meaning, was component protection removed prior to installing it into your car. It may still be locked to the VIN of the car it was originally removed from.

@siemic:Hi.

I intend no offense - but I have to ask : you are aware that loading map data on a SD card for a MIB ONLY works if you have an original OEM SD card? The VW SD card has a security mechanism - so normal commercial SD cards don't work.

My apology if you already know this stuff!

Don Dont want to be a nark again but i had this unit in my 2019 Tig and had no trouble using a generic card in either slot in the glove box Mine was a 2019 2.5 unit but screen looked identical to the pics. Sharkie might be on the money The lesser models had to have a card which was usually provided with the unit

The map for the Discover pro Extracts to what he shows and is P353 N60S5MIBH3...........
The Discover media one (which has knobs each side of screen ) is MRM3 2210 V19.72
I always used the Pro one without trouble.

Thanks for the replies so far. I've attached two images in the top post of the SW train version and software version.

I'll write them here anyways:

Installed SW train version: MHI_ER_VWG13_P4521
Installed SW MU Version: 1367
Part number: 5NA35045D

The unit came from the wreckers, a totalled 2019 Tiguan R-line from Sydney, I'm sure the car was definitely from here. I got the seats from it too, which came with headrests with TVs on them, and a DVD of frozen. Poor kid is probably traumatised from that movie now.

Yep CP removed, everything works, including Carplay, radio, changing car features, reverse camera. It's just the maps that keeps freaking out.

I've heard mixed opinions on this (and even in this thread), but even the VW guides suggest to get a 32gb SDHC card, which is what I've done. This unit is definitely a Discover pro and people have suggested this worked in the past.

I do have a 8gb OEM card, the maps unfortunately don't fit. (Unless I can delete some countries that I never plan to drive my car to).

DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING or they simply wont work. I have used maps off the VW and Skoda site without trouble in the TIG for 4 years. Use a 64 gb card as the later maps were just a bit big for some 32gb cards I usually use Samsung Ultra and just hauled out whatever I didnt have in my dashcams at the time.

Last obvious question Are you using a real Windows PC or a DEVILS SPAWN Apple product. IF you are you need a specific unzipper as Macs put crap all over the place and real computers dont.

DONT USE A MAC end of story.
