Hello people, How do you tell what model coilovers will suit a car.
I am looking at some for a Vento and need to know if they will fit.
What should i be looking for? model number etc, any help would be great.

Thanks in advance......LVD

just go to the manufacturers website and they will have different product numbers to suit different applications

Is it in relation to the Vin number though. Because some have different numbers.

I'm looking at these...

Not really, unless the suspension setup is radically different from one year to the next.

I believe that only applies to the American models. You'll find that your VIN number will be completely different to theirs, as their cars were made in Mexico whereas ours in Wolfsburg. That said, I think the differences between them are not the actual struts, but the bearings/mounts/nuts. Some use a special nut that requires a VW tool to undo, whereas the other doesn't. Furthermore, I think they're divided into model designations OBDI and OBDII. As for which one is suitable for us, I would have no clue, though I'll place a sizeable bet that both should work.

Who has got coilovers and what size drop did you achieve. The last set i had were H&R but i didn't install them so don't know the lowering depth was i.e 40mm - 80mm... i don't know what i need as i want it to be low but not too low. I was thinking 40mm - 75mm should be enough i think... What you reckon??:?

My V2s have a nice drop and I can probably go another 20-30mm I reckon but I am super low as it is.

I have these ones:

Which are NOT all the way down :D

I went for the ones with the wider range so I had the option to move it back to a "stock" height if I ever need to.

At AU$950 to my door I thought they were damn good value. Handling is much improved, ride is still very good and although I need to be careful, I don't tend to bottom out often, even with three good sized adults in the car.

Will see how they go round Wakefield Park next week too. (PS come to Wakefield...)

I bought a set of second hand Bilsteins.... And the manufacturer's model list was NO help at all.

The bloke who sold them assured me they would fit. He told me they came of an A6. Checking out the Bilstein data on A6s I got a bit more confidence.
