Hi Guys,
Due to the shocking potholes here in Australia the passenger side lower control arm on my 2 litre, automatic, MK3 golf needs to be removed. Problem is that to remove the bolt which forms the "hinge"
appears to be close to impossible.I managed to undo the bolt (using a ring spanner) but i cannot remove it(more than an inch or so) because it hits the auto /transaxal assembly sump.Tried jacking the motor /auto up an inch (to try and clear the bolt) but was worried about doing damage.
Could someone please give me an idea of how this can be done ????
Hanes book says that it must be torqued to a certain figure etc but
i am unable to use a torque wrench /socket because of limited clearance.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can supply.
Cheers.....George

Autos suck. You need to undo the rear engine mount and lift the motor and box.

If its any consolation, on a manual the box is less big and the bolt would slip straight out.
