Just came on this morning - dont have manual with me - dealer says could be all manner of things and to bring it in but can't until tomorrow.
Anyone else have experience with this? All fluids seem OK. OK to drive or will everything explode?
Thanks.

I've had this and needed both Oxygen sensors replaced, your car will still drive OK. I drove around for a few weeks waiting for them to be ordered, so tomorrow should be OK.

I had a check light show... was caused by a blocked egr valve/pipe (apparently)

I believe it is also know as the flog alert..... lol, j/k
I had this when i did somthing to my cat. They turned it off tho.
Dont assume you will have to draw the codes to find out whats up. The ecu has many sensors and controls going on , so to assume it a certain switch or sensor is crazy man. When it stays on it means a hard fault is logged, anyway no matter you can watch the sensor live when testing.

yeah, but the way they jump to conclusions is entertaining, surely jim. ..kai, maybe removing your cat all-together may have had something to do with throwing an oxy-sensor code, I could be wrong though :D
I 100% agree with both statements It truly is amusing but cant help myself get roped in LOL !:D
Cheers mate that made me laugh.:D

Yeah that was the problem.
They turned something off or did something with it. And it hasnt come on since. Dunno.

well kai, you blow flames now, ..and until they release Vagcom version MMC (Mental Mod Codes), you're better off ignoring all stock codes ;)

Thanks guys - according to manual it is in fact an Exhaust Gas Warning Lamp - telling me that the quality of the exhaust gas has reduced (e.g - lambda probe fault).
I reckon that one can wait till the weekend to see the dealer.
The symbol looked like a motor to me.......

Dealer service wont be open on the weekend will it? I actually had the codes show up, they cleared them and it came back, so I left it till the sensors were replaced.

I just had the light come on this morning. :driver: Mine has done 16,000km, delivered March '07.
I was worried until I looked up the manual and it said poor exhaust quality. As far as I'm concerned all exhaust gas is bad for you. :moonie:
Will take it to the dealer and see what they say. Have changed back to normal mode and amazed how different the car feels (slow), will be interesting to see if they notice the APR software. :bluesbro:

Had the same thing - it was a fuel purge valve.
But it could be a zillion things - just let the dealer do their thing.

my engine light came on last week so i took it to VW and they said it was my oxygen sensor. they switched the code off and off i went. about 10 mins later if came back on so i'll have to book into VW and get the sensors replaced. how long do they need the car for because Gold Coast VW won't give me a courtesy car. they said you have to book them at least 3 months in advance......WTF?? what a load of crap!

A day will do for the sensors. Ask if they maybe change both because when one goes, sometimes so does the other one.
