Hi Hillbilly,
We bought a new signature model to replace our 2017 Fabia in December 2021 which we are both very happy with.
Have you attempted to isolate stop/start via VCDs by any chance ?
Thanks

Yes and you cant only way is with the cheater cable from Aliexpress, which I have but havent been game to pull the console trim apart to fit it You can have it for the $50 it cost me and I have photos on how to remove the trim and switch

Thanks. I’ll look into it. Im not too keen on adding hardware to achieve this mod at this stage.

Its only a cable that you attach to the switch and to the connector you pull off the switch and it enables it to be turned of all the time or back to normal as you want. Its just bloody hard to get the trim off so you c
an pull the bank of switches out to insert it.

It's the only way to achieve this since 2020 sometime. They killed off the software fixes.

I got the cable and installed it in my mother's Kamiq.

I have one in my 2020 GTI as well.

In our 2019 Polo I used my OBD11 to do it.

So how hard did you have to pull the trim to get it off I am reluctant to pull too hard even though a Russian guy sent me photos of him doing it

It's doubtful, he wouldn't share them with me so I just did it. A while ago now so I don't remember much, but it wasn't easy, photos of the parts involved would have been helpful.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes and its impossible as VAG have disabled the ability to do it Only way is to buy a cheater cable from ALIEXPRESS and fit that However getting the console apart to get the switch out is really hard and I gave up Consequently have the cable sitting here $30 posted

Hmm a Russian guy sent me pics and he removed the whole trim around the switches and gear lever and all so I thought it was too fragile to do that so left it. Might try it from these.

I would say it took me less than 5 minutes start to finish

That's easier than how I did it myself, but I got there.

Nothing is fragile, it's supposed to pull apart, it's just thing it with care that's the issue for our cars.

Did it yesterday and all back together but buggared if I can get it to work I bought the cable about 2 years ago and havent got the instructions. Have tried others pinched off AliExpress but cant get it to do what the horrible instructions say. Also had a bit of a hard time getting the cable down into the trim far enough to get switches back in place

Shouldn’t need instructions, only plugs in one way. Once fitted the state of stop/start button remains as is until you press it again, regardless of how many times the car is started.

I can only guess that you may have purchased a faulty one
