Passat 2.0L DPF :(

Howdy!

I've got a 2007 B6 Passat with a DPF which has been diagnosed as irreparable and must be replaced. VW have quoted $4,500 and I politely told them that I cannot even remotely warrant that much money for a car worth only just slightly more than that.

Anyone have any tips for getting a cheap replacement? Wreckers, second hand, aftermarket? I'm in Adelaide but happy to hear of any help from around the country.

Here is a $2000 replacement option, but you will have to factor in labour time to remove the old and install the new which may well be 1/2 a day or more as I believe the subframe needs to be removed to allow sufficient access.

As another option, there are companies like this one who specialise in flushing out the DPF’s to give them a few more years of life.

GCG would be able to advise someone in Adelaide that could do that install. Then you can re-assess the value of your car maybe?
