Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProHeard the old 6.2L C63 today.. sad that the noise has changed (for the worst) with the new turbo V8.

Upcoming C63 will be 4 cyclinder..

Will be a sad day when all cars will be electric.

Yep I hear you mate, UK ban on sale of new fossil fuel powered cars comes into effect in 2030. I’m sure we’ll do something stupid like that not long after. A sad day that will be indeed.

I think it’ll just make the fleet of fossil fuel cars more one more expensive as they’ll be sought after. The infrastructure and battery technology is just not there yet, imagine trying to do a road trip Sydney to Melbourne, Brisbane, etc. 2-3 40 mins charges on the way, now try doing that on a long weekend. Think of the wait for a charging point LOL. Talk about regression...

Ahhh an M4, my bad! Beautiful car [emoji41]
I had a 2015 X5 40d for a few years, that was a beast, I can only imagine how much of a beast the M4 would be.

thanks mate, i totally agree. the two main reasons I bought it are for the noise that it makes and for the noise it makes...

just joking, second reason is I know that fossil fuels won't be allowed for ever so I plan on making the most of it now...

thanks mate, I went from the e92 m3 to the m4 and its a totally different animal. I love the low down torque of the m4 but I miss the m3 sound hence why the c63 has just filled its place...

I still wish I'd kept the e92 really...

I had already ordered a new head unit for it as I can't live without apple carplay these days so I set about fitting this when I got the car home...

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/04/51062146122_5edc93658c_c-1.jpg

it was really packaged and arrived within about 4 days...

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/04/51062146072_f52c983a56_c-1.jpg

also super easy to fit and it works well. I didn't expect it to be that big and there was another size up but I'm glad a didn't choose that as I was contemplating it. the finish is nice and it looks oem to me...

next on the list was to fix the wheel rash which is a pet hate of mine. rear two were perfect, the front nearside was totalled and front offside not too bad but I got them both done anyway...

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/04/51062052461_488c753e15_c-1.jpg

Yeah I hear you on that note! Nothing can beat the raw sound of a high performance NA motor (or blown).

E92 M3 is one of those cars I keep looking at and if I have the spare cash and approval from the Mrs one day I need to just get one.

That CarPlay setup is brilliant, it does look OEM but agree bigger would have been too big I reckon. Can’t live without CarPlay now either... loving the wireless CarPlay in the new Tiguan.

Such a sweet the C63, I would have done the same with the rims, that would have bugged me terribly LOL. Love the workout for the new tyres, the best way to christen them!!

Nice C63. I came very close to buying one of these a few years ago but ended up going for the Lexus IS-F instead. I had the pleasure of driving one of these C63's for a few days - great fun but boy oh boy the fuel consumption is incredible (especially with a heavy right foot).

Who did your steering wheel retrim?

the original rear tips are quite tarnished unfortunately and I don't think even days of metal polishing will fix them. its a good excuse for new rear section anyway. I didn't want to spend a fortune and I wanted to keep the oem tip look so I went for the topspeed pro 1...

well after 2 days of owning it I had the dreaded steering lock motor fail and the car wouldn't start. initially I wondered if I'd been conned but I drove the car prior to buying it and shut it off and restarted a couple of times. the old owner even drove to the bank with me when we transferred funds so he would have been taking a big gamble shutting it off in the bank carpark if he knew the motor was on its way out...

long story short I had to get it towed to a shop to be fixed, I can only be thankful it happened at home and not on the 300k drive I was planning to Stanthorpe the weekend after...

I took it to these guys who actually billed me less than they quoted which I thought was a pleasant surprise...

Good to hear that basic maintenance is easy enough on the C63. My ISF was probably the easiest car ive ever owned for doing an oil change - the engineers actually thought about access for maintenance.

Gosh I hate it when the engineers dont think (or care) of things like being able to remove that bolt - if only they put it in the other way around huh...

guile
10-11-2021, 07:54 PM
I totally agree mate. I could understand if they were vertically aligned bolts which is probably best practice to have the head of the bolt on top and the nut on the bottom just in case the nut backs off...

no reason these can't be the other way around as far as I am concerned so they got reversed when they went back in...

Heres our other grocery getter, and the missus daily.. MY21 C63S with Ceramic brakes, and sports seats. its got some sort of air freshener delivery system as the other option, which is nice but hideously expensive to replace the consumables.. So far the missus has put only 9K klms on it in 12 months.. Ive had faster cars, but nothing thats the complete package like this, its something else to drive, sheer pleasure you get.. :)
