My biturbo just failed.
Engine code low turbo boost.
Blowing smoke on acceleration.
Now running on whichever turbo is still working.
Has anyone go these refurbished?
How easy is it to remove. Is there a YouTube clip?
Going to see if local turbo mob can refurbish.
How much to refurbish?

are you sure it's a turbo.
Not a boost pipe come off?

Symptoms don’t match.
If I clear the fault , there is boost there but as soon as there is too much load the fault appears.
You can hear a constant noise , with bearing or blade is hitting the housing.
Anyway I will take it to the vw specialist to get diagnosis.

On mine(single turbo) i have taken intake pipe off, and actually felt movement in turbo. It's not rubbing the housing but i need to replace turbo at some point soon. Mine has near 180K on it
Have priced turbos from here, don''t know how good they are
Volkswagen (https://demonproparts.com.au/collections/volkswagen)

genuine turbo from VW for mine( changeover), is 5K or so

If your turbine is rubbing on the housing i would IMO be very reluctant to drive it much, or even at all. If it lets go, could be expensive in other parts of engine

Hi Sorry to hear definitely really a pain and yours is possibly part of the whole egr failure debacle surrounding some of these CFCA engines worldwide . I’ve seen The Borge Warner unit on eBay a while back $3000 can only see GCG Turbos $4000 at the moment ,my Whole engine went around 100k due to egr problems the turbo being part of the replacement . Look up EGR Failure 132 kw on any Euro Transporter forum and read up before jumping into any expensive quote .
I hope you can sort something reasonable out
Cheers

Sendo I’d be looking at a blocked egr valve causing over fuelling and then fuel dilution of your oil, therefore thinning it out and causing the turbo bearing failure first then whatever is the next weakest link in the engine.
Easiest test is to measure how much oil is coming out of your engine compared to going in at oil changes. If more, this will be the suspect and also get your oil tested, as this will identify issues straight away.
I know all this as it happened to me, and I got stung with a $4500 VW bill after I fought for some kind of compensation at I was just out of the warranty. Total invoice was nearly $8k
Needless to say I haven’t been to VW service since. Also have all the evidence to prove it.
