I really like the look of these and are in my price range for my first car (3000-5000). I really like the look and found one with low kms for a decent price as well (VW's too expensive). Just want to know how hard they are to maintain and if parts are easily available in Sydney etc?

Or should I not get a european car?

hi and welcome,
they are basically a vw ,most parts are easily found if you know the corresponding vw part number.GOLF LOON has a nice cordoba for sale, very cheap and he has access to most parts.pm him !!!
dont forget SEAT cars are very big in europe and are considered a better more reliable than their vw siblings!!!

as george said, seats are basically Vw's all the parts are interchangable, and servicing are no probs, they are good cars because they are underrated in australia cause most australians don't know what they actualy are!

I reckon it'd make a great first car!

3 Red ones for sale atm! Red goes faster tho.

What model are you looking at? Ibiza 1.4 or 2L GTI, or 1.8 cordy.
Get a manual, the autos are expensive to fix.

Welcome Sunjet.
Good to see you took my advice and came on over for a look. Better to ask the people that actually know rather than people who heard something from a friend of a friend of a mate's sister's brother's cousin. ;)
Good luck with the hunt.
Cheers
Trent

Yep. ~110 000km's.

Yeah, I actually love the red one now, guess I had to see it in real life.

Anyways, are CD players easy to install and re-attaching the wiring for central locking?

Golf Loon

C/L is vacuum operated, not electrical.
CD Player should be easy.

sunjet

Can I buy any type or a certain type that will fit the slot?

Would it be possible to fix the central locking myself?

Sorry for the noob questions, only just getting into cars now myself let alone a SEAT.

Depends what is wrong with the C/L. Do any of the buttons work? Have you tried drivers and passengers doors?

Get a generic CD player and slice it in.

Back two don't work.

Does the pump in the boot run for ages?

When the pump is running, listen at the edge of the door and see if you can hear air escaping. Under the bubber boot by the door hinges is an airline, make sure it is plugged in and has no vacuum leaks.

If you get it right the C/L will work :)
