Is there anyone that have experience with changing out our headrests to the 2-way adjustable ones like in the Passat? Would really love to be able to adjust the headrest back and forth.

Example picture for headrest with 2-ways adjustment: http://www.vagbase.com/image/cache/data/VOLKSWAGEN%20/20170902161651-850x850.jpg

I thought all Arteons had that.

Hm, I seem to only have this one, it only adjusts up and down. Which one do you have?

I have the one that you originally posted.

Do you have the same pattern in the seats, the R-line option?

My pattern is the same as your one. Don’t those circle buttons on the side allow you to move the head rest forward?

They do on a Passat so probably should

Not possible at all. My previous car, a Passat had 2-way adjustment, but not these. I have the right one and there is not possible to adjust forward/depth on them. Weird that they have supplied to different versions for this particular car.

Here is a better picture of them, https://images.finncdn.no/dynamic/1600w/2019/3/vertical-3/12/4/137/824/624_2032995129.jpg
Seems like there are two versions of them.

So what does the button do

It allows the headrest to move up and down. The height adjustment is not controlled at the bottom of the headrest like other models I have used.

the Australian Arteons have a different fit out internally... we seem to get the different steering wheel and seats apposed to EU. But we loose the seat ventilation option and only get heating.

Engine is only the AWD206tsi where as the FWD models and diesels are readily available in the EU also

My 2019 Arteon does have the up down forward/backward adjusting headrests. I love them. They're actually really comfy headrests.

Just had a quick look through car sales and it looks like all models have the 2 way head-rest ('17, '18 and '19). I've got them in a MY18. Given there are only two options you can choose for the car (neither of which affect the headrests as far as I know), I'm curious why some cars would not have the 2 way head rest?

Beats me

I have the same headrest, you press the button in on the side, and it moves in and out, quite a lot actually. So the factory standard R line in Australia does have up down / in out head rests.

is it possible someone at VW has swapped them over to something that shouldn't have been there?
