Any one thought of doing this and is it possible. 10GB is worse than useless. I have 35Gb of Mp3's and went to load them up and NO GO

Have a spare 64gb SDD lying around and wondered if it would fit and work

Yes I know I can play them from the SD card.

There is no SSD in the unit.
The 10GB is just left over space on the 32GB flash which is soldered to the board.
Just use any sdcard up to 2TB in size.

Thanks Kamold Is a retrograde step as the 510 had a 40gb HDD in it

Yeah I know but if you have a decent size HDD or SSD you dont need SD cards
Have got it working with one Ok though

I have SD cards up to 200gb in capacity

I’m trying to work out how flash storage is a retrograde to a spinning platter HDD...

Space wise it is We are only playing music here not using a quantum computer

Just like when an a aquaintance bought a new all in one. He just wanted storage for photos of which he has quite a lot and machine came with a 1Tb HDD

Sales ******* talked him into putting a 128 gb SSD into it and put the HDD in a caddy . Then charged him for a new copy of Windoze (Completely unecessary) Ended up doubling the price of the machine and now he has to connect up the external drive to do almost anything with his photos.
Guess where he bought it N ot H ard

Speed isnt everything all the time and in this case wasnt hardly any faster anyway..

oooookay, so back on the topic of in-dash systems....

the flash storage system will fire up faster, require less physical space, and have lower power requirements - with plenty of space for system requirements.

and you can add on pretty much as much SD card storage as you want - and not every buyer of the unit needs to pay for storage they will never use.

so this is an issue how again? Or is it just an excuse to complain about something? Trying to understand what the ACTUAL issue is, since none of this has changed since you looked at the vehicle in the showroom.

No it hasnt but the brochures said it has a 32Gb SSD and maybe it does but owng to differences in design it doesnt have that amount for storage of music etc as it seems it uses that space for everything.

The price of SSDs has come down nayway as I bought a 500gb one for less than I paid for a 64Gb on a couple of years ago.

Im more dissapointed than annoyed

Im not really complaining it just tidier on a drive rather than having it on a card which can get hot and deteriorate faster

Yeah, see I wouldn’t use on-board storage at all so I don’t see the issue.

What does bug me though - no way to update the gracenotes database so all the album artwork (streaming Bluetooth) is old as balls.

Yeah, see I do nothing but stare at the screen endlessly. I don’t watch the road at all. Ever.
