Hi everyone,
I own a 2011 118tsi and have been experiencing issues with significant power loss in hot weather and after some spirited driving; Specifically with low end power which leads me to believe that the heat might be impacting the ability of the magnetic clutch of the supercharger to engage properly but this does not throw any lights on the dashboard.
I'll be driving along and everything will be functional and suddenly when i put my foot down to accelerate from low revs the car will not accelerate at all, forcing me to downshift and rev the absolute nuts off it to then get the boost from the turbo to accelerate.
Is this a sign of a faulty part or is this just something i need to live with on hot days? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Any input is greatly appreciated :)

I’ve never had that sort of behaviour, although turbos hate hot, but this does sound worse. Do you have access to any logging equipment to check what’s going on?
VCDS or OBDEleven etc?

Unfortunately i do not have access to logging equipment. But i will look into it to get a better idea of what is going on!

I stumbled across this tonight which has some good links:
MK6 1.4TSI inconsistent power (http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?33288-MK6-1.4TSI-inconsistent-power)

I've copied the relevant bits for you:

Hi,
I have been having an issue with my 118tsi where it feels that it is leaking/low on boost. I put my foot to the floor and it very slowly builds power and then it kind of fixed itself for a while and inconsistently comes back, this problem doesnt happen all of the time but on the rare occasion it does it sucks. And it usually happens after i have been driving semi hard for a while. I heard this may be due to the stock diverter valve failing so i bought a gfb DV+ but that hasn't seemed to have helped. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem?
Cheers!

Leaving this here to help you troubleshoot. I'm guessing it might be the supercharger clutch.

Thanks for the reply! I actually started that thread a while ago but did not get any more replies so i thought i would try here for more ideas. I'll see if i can get my hands on some logging equipment to see what is going on. Again thanks for the help!
