View Full Version : Buying Amarok - question

I've been shopping around for Amaroks for a while now. I've found 3 that I like. 2 are 2014 Highlines, relatively low mileage, 80k, but a bit tatty inside and a few scratches on the body work. The 3rd is a 2014 Ultimate, immaculate, serviced at a VW dealership, regularly, but it's done 118k. Is that high mileage a bit of a concern? Any issues with the engine and DSG with high mileage? Any other concerns with Amaroks and mileage?

I will personally go for ultimate they look so much nicer.
118km no worries make sure 115k services has been done. Gear box is not DSG but ZF much better quality and reliable.
I had 2l highline for 5 years with 215k on it. Very good car.

118k klms is nothing for a well looked after 2 litre Amarok. Try to get some idea of where those klms where done though. If it’s lots of highway or country road driving then you’re laughing. If it’s all been within a 2 km radius with the engine cold at the start of each trip then not so good. Diesels don’t like short trips in town, especially with a DPF.

Also try to gauge if it’s been filled to the brim each time or left running on a quarter tank with a fiver chucked in here and there. DPF won’t do a burn if the fuel level is too low.

In short, go for the Ultimate. Our local VW dealership has a few 400,000 km Amaroks on their service books with no issues.

I just can't figure out how to turn the LED lights on, the ones that sit on the roll-bar and face rear..
