Interesting Hmmmm. i know you can recode no worries but wasnt aware of a "sport mode" Mate im willing to recode your box if you like, we note the existing code for future reference and recode. If no joy or not happy revert back to your original code.

Hey mate,

I have a tiptronic passat and tried this mod. Confirm it works. Basically it holds the revs till redline when you punch the accelerator giving you a sporty feeling.

Good mod to try..

My mother's passat 1.8T is similarily quite lethargic as per described in the article. Can you perform this with any VAGCOM, or do you need a specific one?

Yeah you can use any vagcom just make sure your go into the tiptronic controller and change the code. I tihnk our cars are 0000, you just need to change it to 0010.

Oh right excellent, next time the 00' 1.8T goes for a checkup I'll get the local grease monkey to change it :)

I wonder if this applies to the 1.6l polo 6 speed.

I find it frustrating when I want to hold a gear but the car automatically downshifts.

You mean up shifts? If you put your foot down on the accelerator pedal past 5 and a half, the vehicle has a tendency to preserve the gears and shift up for you.

In S mode, you cant hold a gear so I know the frustration that you're feeling.
