So, picked up my 2011 DSG Golf GTI last week and it's been putting a smile on my dial ever since.
It's white, I hear they're known as Fridges round here?

Anyway, I'm digressing.
When I got home I discovered a Ross Tech VCDS dongle plugged into a port by my bonnet release.
My question is, is this useful and WTF can I do with it. The Ross Tech website is ...antiquated.
Looking at it, I can't use it unless I have a Windows laptop which is me out (Macbook), but I'm wondering if I can still use it for something.
If not, for sale?

Thanks in advance

Well, I feel silly.
Turns out there's a whole subforum...
I did have a read, but did look a lot like gibberish to me...

Got a photo or model number of that dongle?

They are very useful in setting up things or clearing codes. VCDS is one of (if not the) best module for tinkering.

As for a Mac, it will happily run under Parallels which is what I do (and probably virtual box).

If it’s genuine and you don’t want it I’m more than sure someone here will be willing to take it off your hands.

Happy to buy off you if you decide to sell.

Cheers

@OP, imagine you're playing a game and you found the ' cheat codes' menu.
That's basically what you've found for your car. A way to enable/disable certain settings that you wouldn't normally be able to do. (Also, you can see detailed log of any errors that pop up in your ECU )

Was wondering what model number you've found? Would happily purchase from you if you didn't want to use it? I need to clear some codes.
