Hi All,

Not too far from getting my Tiguan so I am starting to think about servicing. Currently with my current car (Subaru WRX) I strictly go to a Subaru dealership to service it even after warranty period has expired. I always felt however, that every service they would add 1 or 2 things they they suggest need replacing which would ultimately bump up the price making it quite expensive and made me doubt their trustworthiness. This time around I am thinking of going to an independent for servicing.

Does any else take their car to an independent mechanic rather than a dealership even during warranty period? I understand that the dealership will still honor warranty claims as long as the service follows the standard service schedule for that particular vehicle.

Also who do you guys recommend? I am in Vic but feel free to mention recommended places in other states also as it may help others. I am looking a possibly VolkService in Braeside. If anyone has some feedback for them, let me know.

Hey Gorey

I also have a new vw and i will not be taking it to the dealer even with their fixed pricing will be getting my golf (along with the other 2 golfs and 2 polos in family) done by my regular vw specialist at dandy volks in dandenong
Had good work from him and he does not b/s you about stuff if he thinks you need something he tells you and a few times i have put something off till next service and he is ok np if the timing belt breaks i have told you lol
I get a measurement of how many mm are left on brake pads on each axle am very happy about this as was badly ripped off by Subaru dealer years ago with brakes done at 50 %

If i were you i would check out their online reviews and ring them up and talk to the boss/manager see if you click with them i will guaranty they will be happy to have you from new and build a long term relationship well past the warranty period

Not sure in your country but over here it's best to serve it at an official dealership till the end of the standard factory guarantee period mainly for reselling purposes. It keeps better value although it will not make such a big difference but it's become a habit to people I guess.
