Some info on the new Adventure:
Volkswagen Tiguan Adventure on sale from $43,990 (http://www.caradvice.com.au/576166/volkswagen-tiguan-adventure-on-sale-from-43990/)

At least this allows future Comfortline buyers looking at upgraded headlights to get them without going up to the Highline.

Small changes but looks good!

I think it looks like a good package. It's the cheaper way to get the decent looking headlights. But if you want leather you're probably just better off getting the Highline.

There is no information on the VWA site that I can see but the dealers have the cars or the dealer I emailed has got one. I wouldn't mind seeing a catalogue to find out exactly what it has got in it. To me no leather is a bit of a plus as the missus doesn't like it in the 162 we have and she didn't like it in the Skoda we had before the Tiguan but I couldn't leave it out of the options pack.

I had a good look at one today side by side with a Highline (non R-Line). I really like the look with the new bumper - it doesn't look so blunt anymore. Although the headlights are led, they are very different to the Highline's.

Canberra dealership has one too. I like the front bumper. Pity it's not an option across the range. I'd like to have it fitted to the car leaving the rest of the R-Line goodies intact.

I agree - it would be good to have across the range. I also really liked the wheel/tyre combo - much better than the standard Comfortline.

Yes I noticed that. I'm not a massive fan of the standard OEM option roof rails. It looks like they used the same supplier as for the gen1 Tig which have a similar high clearance from the roof. This is mainly to ensure that if you have a sunroof that when you open it you still have clearance to the bar. But if you don't have a sunroof you end up with bars sitting miles up in the air.

I had a set of Whispbar aero roof rails permanently attached to my gen1 Tig. They looked nice and added a touch to the car. But these would have clearance issues with a sunroof.

They seem to sit somewhere between the lights fitted to the standard Comfortline and the Highline in that they have LED indicators instead of old school globes on Comfortline,
but they are missing the dynamic cornering and dynamic high beam function from the Highline.

Got a 132TSI Adventure (White) from Belconnen (ACT) VW dealer.

Like the others, we told them not to install the roof racks.

Because of the cost, my wife decided to get the 3+5 warranty (3 years for VW + 5 years dealer mechanical protection warranty).

A bit disappointed that Suna and traffic sign recognition doesn't come enabled. We are both disappointed that we cannot permanently disable auto stop/start.

PS: I know about modifying using VCDS but she's terrified it might void the warranties.

Just got my Tiguan Adventure 132TSI (DAP) from Belconnen, ACT dealer. Like the others, we chose not to get the roof racks installed.

The first thing I did was to update the GPS maps. The dealer's SD card was dated 2016 and there are a few streets in our suburbs that are new.

I was a bit disappointed the Discovery Media doesn't support DAB. My wife and I are getting annoyed with the auto stop/start "feature" but she's terrified that if we get this modified it could/might void the warranty (3+5 years).

tigger73
24-01-2018, 12:44 PM
Changing a setting using VCDS is not going to void your warranty. It's just a feature available in a different region/setting that is available from the factory.

The only thing is that if you do change it then don't expect the local dealership to support it as it's not a standard feature for the cars that they wuld get trained on.

You will get used to stop/start but if it really annoys you then I'd disable it with VCDS. I just enabled some functions infcluding the traffic sign recognition for another forum member. Why it doesn't come enabled is a bit puzzling to me, however I think sometimes it's driven by marketing and they'll enable features in following model years. The fact that these features have been lying dormant in the car all along they just won't tell you...

Word of caution. Just take a full scan before you start and record all the settings before you make any changes. That way you can change them back if you ever want/need to later down the track.

Jackson22

I presume you know to turn off the auto stop start each time you start the car? As an interim I guess? In my experience of a week you do get used to it.

Daughters polo stopped at traffic lights in peak hour traffic and then when she went to take off the entire electrical system failed.
Battery had a complete failure and not even hazard lights would work.
Stop/Start apparently puts a strain on both battery and starter and technician recomnended not using it as in Canberra traffic is a lot lighter than elsewhere.
Will buy ODB11 today and permanently turn it off in polo as well as my new Tiguan.

Ok Adventure owners (or those in the know): after 28 hours with mine, I can’t work out the driver’s seat adjustments. I read the manual twice, and want to confirm: does the Adventure have electric adjustments or manual?

Eg, does it move forward and backwards towards or away from the steering wheel electrically or manually? In the manual it talks about storing a driver’s preferred settings and then moving back from the steering wheel as you’re about to exit the car which is super handy.

Can’t work out why mine doesn’t?

Before I could drive off with my Adventure, the dealer spent 45 minutes discussing the features of the car. This includes how to open the petrol flap. The car doors must be unlocked and push the petrol door/flap from the upper left-hand corner.

The flap cannot open if the doors are locked. Nifty!

Well respectfully that dealer is incorrect and it's your lucky day Tigkar.... I have the Adventure and it sure does have the lumber massage. The seat is manual adjustment forward and up and back rest tilt. Down by the right hand side On the side though theres a silver button and that is the massage.

The seat is manual adjustment forward and up and back rest tilt. Down by the right hand side On the side though theres a silver button and that is the massage.

Yep knew about the massage - it’s the first feature I tried!

Had hoped the seat would be electric forwards and backwards but that’s ok, you can’t have everything! :)

Interesting, thank you.

Out of interest how do I decipher this? My previous car just had the recommended psi against each tyre

Yep but I don’t understand the numbers! Excuse my silliness but every air station has 30 something.. can only see “230 and 2,3” which I have no idea what they mean (I’m new to VW and SUVs)

Ok I found it! Bar to PSI conversion needed. 34 seems recommended. Blonde moment

Hi all. Am keen to purchase a Tiguan TDI Adventure. Rapt to find these threads and learn more than from the same old same old reviews. How good are the LED headlights for country driving? How quiet is the car at 110 km/hr on highways? What do you see as the major plusses, and if any, negatives? Is this a model you can deal a good deal with with the dealer? Thanks.

The LED are good but I've seen a lot of Tiguan owners (G1 and G2) that have added extra LED light bar.

Is this a model you can deal a good deal with with the dealer?
Depends on how and when you haggle.

230 is kiloPascal (kPa) 2,3 is in bar (2.3 bar, in Europe a comma is used as a decimal delimiter where we use a point/full stop)

On the electronic tyre inflator things at service stations, hit the 'units of measure' button to switch between psi and kPa. Most manual guages will have a dual scale with one on either side.

If you want to use psi
230 kPa = 33.3 psi
260 kPa =37.7 psi
300 kPa = 43.5 psi

Sounds satisfactory but I guess was looking for 'excellent' as the answer to the headlights. Thanks for feedback.

Hi. I’ve only driven mine once T night so far but they were good, but.. my dealer offered an overnight test drive, (didn’t take it) but might be worth considering if you want to check out lights and go a bit further . I’ve read a few reviews that suggest wind noise at 110km/hr and to be honest there’s is a small amount which I think comes from the side mirror but honestly with the radio on even softly you cannot hear it. I’ve not noticed tyre noise . Bear in mind my old car is a 12yo Outback so this new car feels like a space ship. The Outback was quieter than the Corolla which was quieter than the Beetle. I’ve been delighted so far. No cons except maybe the one reversing light seems a bit dumb, but otherwise so far so good. Pluses are def the keyless entry and autoboot. DAB would have been handy. Oh, I got an ok deal I thought (might have been bc the my18.5 was coming with more USB’s) so, 46500 drive away with metallic paint, mats, boot liner, protective strip and DAP. Not sure how much more they would moved. Good luck

Thank you Jackson 22. This is excellent feedback. The price seems to be around the norm. Just checking, DAB is the digital radio, which we don't get in country Vic anyway. And yes, the 18.5 update is coming. Do we know other than extra USB's, are their other changes? Cheers.

The engine badges are being deleted from the rear and also it seems the ESC off button is also being removed (can still switch it off in the infotainment). So nothing really significant.

yes, DAB is digital radio. I am not sure of other major changes, just basically cosmetic I think.

Think there’s some misunderstanding. Someone mentioned DAP but someone else interpreted it as DAB. I’m pretty sure no models have the digital radio. Correct me if I’m wrong ..,

DAB has never been included and is not among the minor changes.

I see references to digital radio on my deep dive with my Arteon. So maybe it can be turned on like a whole bunch of other stuff via an obd2? Haven't bothered as we don't get digital on the Gold Coast and it kept pausing for 3-6 seconds on my last car with it.

No not really. I mentioned the lack of DAB in a pros/cons list of the Adventure, a few posts up. It isn’t on Aus models and I wish it was. DAP, which wasn’t mentioned by me, is, so far so good :-)

Yep, I think it was 'CWolf1' who was getting confused. Don't worry CWolf1 you're not missing out, there's no DAB sadly.

Thank you for everyones contributions. Is it correct that the Adventure, as a Special Edition, is no longer being manufactured?

It was a special edition but no numbers were ever announced. It's still listed on the website but not the configurator, so my guess is that production has ended but there are some unallocated ones still coming on the boats.

I got told the last of Adventure builds was November but not sure.

Copped a flat today - day 9. Had to take it to the local dealer and whilst I was there asked if they could turn on TJA. No joke Service Manager asked me what that was.

*sigh*

Would love to get some under body photos of the Adventure, interested to see what the under body protection looks like compared to stock.

Here's a few shots of a stock undercarriage

Good day, just reviving this thread to get feedback from current owners of the discontinued 110TDI Adventure series. Am thinking of buying used, care to share what i should be concerned of when choosing? Is the 7-speed DSG a potential headache? Is the underbody protection worth the coin it was meant to function as? Was the Adventure series ever sold in Germany? TIA
