Hi Guys,
I have just ordered and OBDeleven dongle and note I need to pair it to an Android device. Now I coming from an Apple family so we have no Andriod devices at home. Obviously I dont need to spend a lot of money (or do I?) and I dont need another phone, can I use it with a tablet? If anyone is doing a similar thing please advise and/or please recommend any appropriate devices.

cheers
Gary

I think any android device would be ok.

I'm an Apple guy too... same dilemma.
Plenty of cheap, crappy android tablets out there so I'm not worried about the extra cost of owning one purely for OBDeleven.
Presumably the experience is better on a larger screen... although I've only seen mobile phone screenshots so far. Can anyone confirm it is worth buying a tablet over a phone?

I use an old HP 7" Android tablet and it works perfectly. I find that a good size to do everything on, definitely wouldn't need to be any bigger as the icon and text are already decent size. Never tried it on a phone (only have Apple) but with the simplicity of the app I imagine it would be fine on that size as well.

DV52 and a few others use this: Access Denied (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/tablets/lenovo/lenovo-tab-3-a7-10-7-tablet/314282/)
I'm going to get it once my car arrives in a few weeks.

Just the ticket - I'll probably get the same... if my car ever arrives.
Thanks!

Hi Gary, I was in the same situation as you - I went to Australia Post Shop and purchased a Pre-Paid Android Phone (Boost Mobile Zume 5) cost $39 as my dedicated OBDeleven device and just use WiFi or Hotspot... Hope that helps! Cheers Aaron.

If anyone is after an Android device for their OBDeleven, I have a Google Nexus 5 phone that I stopped using a few months ago after the microphone broke. Would be perfectly good for coding. Not looking for any money for it so if you need an Android device let me know. I don't really want to mail it anywhere so it would be pick it up from the Sydney area (either Dee Why or North Ryde).
