Brake Pads

ok, so does anyone know if the brake pads in my 78 Golf GLS, would be the same as pads from a 79 Golf GLD?? i need to know desperately :P

No, diesel pads are thinner.

ok, but to save me pulling out my pads (from my GLS) to show a guy whos getting me brake pads (for my GLS), he needs to see the pads, cos theres different kinds. could i just take an old set from my GLD and show him those to get the pad for my GLS, that what im refering too :)

There are only two kinds and the backing plate is the same.
GLS=thick
GLD=thin

Just make sure that they are original as many GLDs have had the brakes replaced with GLS brakes as it is cheaper and better.
