Hi All,
Had the 12mth / 15,000km service completed today.
Generally the Cabin Filter gets changed every 2yrs, however I like doing it myself every 12mths.
I purchased an Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter from VW Parts; Part No. 5Q0819653
It is made by Valeo and is made in France.
What came out was the original filter and it is obviously a VW Part No. 5Q0819653, however it is stamped Denso (Denso make the fan blower unit that it sits in) and is made by MANN-FILTER (their part no. CUK26009) and is made in Germany (all this info was stamped on the side of the filter).
The original filter actually feels better quality than the VW replacement I purchased today. The original filter appears to have a more solid 4 sided frame with foam / cushioned ends, unlike the VW replacement that I purchased today.
I did the install myself by following the Mounting Instructions on the MANN-FILTER site; https://catalog.mann-filter.com/AU/eng/vehicle/MANN-FILTER%20Katalog%20Australien/Vehicles/CARS%20%2B%20TRANSPORTERS/VW%20(VOLKSWAGEN)/Passat%20(3G2,%203G5)/2.0%20TDI%20DDAA,%20DFCA%20(T247754)
MANN-FILTER Part Numbers:
CU26009 - Cabin Filter
CUK26009 - Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter
FP26009 - Biofunctional Cabin Filter (more than double the price)!!!
I hope this helps someone to give it a go too!!!
