Hi team,
Looking for opinions.
Both cars from VW dealers.
Highline is $19990 (to be negotiated)
Silver
47,000 on the clock
A couple very minor dints, 2-3 mm only
Damage to tint on passenger rear window
Otherwise very clean inside and out.

Trendline is demo - $22k (already negotiated)
Manufacture date October 2016
White
6,800 on the clock

2017 has more tech
Smaller engine 1.4ltr
Practically new with 2.5yrs left in warranty and roadside.

2013 has leather and sunroof
Larger engine 2ltr

What's the opinion on differences in the 2 options?
Mostly city driving

Thanks all!

For city then I would say the smaller engine is probably fine. I have a 2013 Highline and the consumption isn't great around town, but go on longer journeys and the fuel usage is really low (was sub 6L/100kms on a trip to and from Canberra the other month).

The leather is nice, although you have to be careful not to crush the seat bolsters when getting in and out. I would say the warranty on the Trendline is useful for peace of mind. Mine had 8mths of warranty left on it when I bought it in 2015 (for $22k!), so I had some time to see if there were any issues to be fixed, it was all fine.

Ultimately, I wouldn't buy anything other than the 2L but that's just me wanting performance over anything else :D

The 2013 model is the "GTI" of Jettas with the 147 TSI engine and would be a sportier drive than the 2017. Neither of the Jettas have Sat Nav but the 2017 does have a Reversing Camera, which is a plus. My father-in-law has a MY15 TSI 118 Highline and the engine is zippy enough for him and the economy on long trips is outstanding.

Thanks all, ended up buying a new trendline.
Really good feature set for the money.
The only thing that irks me about the car is the sound, driving a mk3 vr6 for the last 5 yrs, bit of a difference in the note! Haha.
I'm looking forward to a working heater though... Melbourne winter is upon us, the family is getting too cold in the mornings.

Congratulations,I'm sure the new Jetta is a massive upgrade from the old MK3
