Looks good. I also have an ex ambulance [2WD] but the conversion [ pop up roof, lining, floor & curtains] is by Trakka. I mounted a cupboard with roller door crossways behind the driver & a Waeco 50 lt fridge behind the passenger seat. I have lost the ability to walk through from the front but the pass. seat can be reclined quite a way, & I still have full use of both sliders, a feature that is very handy. I have a VW 3seat R&R bed in the rear & when it's down we still have some room to move around.
It looks like you are making good use of yours already. I will follow with interest the rest of your conversion.

I wanted to say too Seano that you once mentioned in a post that syncros were hopeless in sand. I have had my syncro in Geraldton WA now for about 6 months and have done loads of trips on the dunes, on the beach and sandy trails. After having Land Cruisers and Foresters for years I was amazed at how far the LWB syncro goes. I let the tyres down to 15 PSI and off I go. I keep the turbo wound up above 2200 RPM but don't have to thrash it, I keep ot below 3000. I first went up with 10 year old original Klebers that my dealer left on it when I bought it that were as good as bald and it went well. On your advice I have now a new set of 205/70R15 GT Radial Maxways that are fantastic in sand. They don't dig down like chunky 4WD tyres. I am really happy with how it goes. The 205s are slightly bigger diameter that standard but only 6ply. The 215/7015 were 8 ply but I felt the diamter was too large. I'll post a photo on the webpage soon. Keep checking on it as I am working on it most days now.

Great to hear you are getting a kick out of it....

My assessment of the sand performance was based on experience in the white sand down in south west WA plus a few other places here and there. In most cases, I've never let the tyres down too much and never have I let them down to 15PSI!! Mainly because I've never had a compressor with me to put them back up.....and getting bogged down was the typical result. And the T4 is a bastard to get out of the sand!!

However, given your experiences and my close spatial relationship with the sand filled Murray-Sunset National Park........I might have to try it out!!

I am new to this forum - I am looking to purchase a Multivan sometime this year so I thought I'd join the forum.

I live in southeast Queensland and spend a lot of time driving on beaches.

15 PSI is absolutely as low as you should go except in an emergency (like if the tide is about to swallow your car) - 14.6 PSI is atmospheric pressure. So long as you don't do any radical steering and keep your speed down, it is okay.

Relative pressure not absolute, otherwise 10 PSI would be a vacuum the way you are looking at it!!
