Hey guys,

After some recommendations for window tinting in the Melbourne Area.

One of the guys i usually go to, Rob Tait from car tint doesn't touch any VAG cars.

Soo looking for any recommendations where they have been tried and tested. Don't want any scratched trims etc as When i picked up my new car on Monday, discovered the rear bumper damaged and interior carbon door trim scratched up. So you can understand my apprehension going to some random car tint.

Why would someone not touch VAG cars they re no different to a Toyota, Holden or what ever.

I tried to get a quote for tinting a new Renault Clio when they launched 3 or 4 years ago.
One guy said he wouldn't touch Renaults as they have clips somewhere that are easy to break and hard to get replacements for? I ended up getting it done through the dealer before delivery.

I guess there are tinters out there who just want an easy life and stick to Falcodores and Toyotas.

I got mine done at TopTint in Frankston/Mornington for a reasonable price in 3M Crystaline, which is high quality, but not too dark.

They did a fairly good job. No marks on the car, but some small bubbles under the film (quite minor, but niggling). If I lived in Vic I would have gone back and they would have replaced those panels, but I'm in Tassie.

I hunted around half of last year for it and in the end just got the dealer to do it. Turned out an awful idea as apart from the higher cost, they did a crap job, and I found they cut the flat bits of rubber around the qtr rear windows away. Refused to fit new rubber afterwards too and also found they had used my windows to cut the film so had to get scratches polished out. This is a very prominent dealer in Melb and they get heaps tinted so pretty woeful.

I've had very good experiences with Nik from Mr Detail. Worth a call - Mr Detail Mr Detail - Melbourne Car Detailing, Paint Protection and Car Care Products (http://www.mrdetail.com.au/)

Can't go wrong mate, have done both tinting and paint protection with them and have no issues. Nik is a perfectionist and if you have any issues he's more than willing to help out and give you advice. I know other forum members have also done their paint protection with them. They tend to be busy so the earlier you book the better.

Update: Ended up taking the car to Namikon Automotive Detailing......anyways just got the whole car done with interior and exterior and the latest Cquarts Finest Reserve 1 of 2 detailers in Melb to have the first samples of it.
results were just: WoW!! it was an absolute mirror finish.... Window tints were done too with llumar ceramic tint, 20% front and 35% rears due to them already having the privacy glass

That looks awesome mate!
The last time I bought a car from a dealer, I saved 100+ dollars by cutting out the dealer as the middle person and going straight to the tint company the dealer was using.

yeah dealer wanted $1450 to do a paint protection and just the front windows tinted...... I got mine done almost the same price but with better product and all windows tinted.
