Done so far:

Tint 20% all round
Glass back wrap on mirrors, wing and chrome door trim

Tried to wrap the rims in gloss black but would not stick to the lip, installer said might peel off after a few months so did not wrap the others.

Just looking to resurrect this thread as I'm sure there's people doing small stuff to their cars but not posting it up as there's no thread for the topic.

I've posted this up elsewhere but ordered a Racingline intake as a Xmas present for the Tiggy the other day.

I bought the Racingline R600 intake in the Harding Performance Xmas sale (10% off hardware). It's available from either the Harding Performance website:Racingline R600 Cold Air Intake - GTI/R, S3, VRS - Harding Performance (https://hp.net.au/home/product/racingline-r600-cold-air-intake-gtir-s3-vrs/)

Alternatively you can purchase it off their ebay store here: Racingline R600 Cold Air Intake - GTI/R, S3, VRS | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Racingline-R600-Cold-Air-Intake-GTI-R-S3-VRS-/292708900187?hash=item4426cf5d5b)

I bought it from the ebay store and got the additional 5% discount (P5OFF discount code).

Next mod is colouring all the grey trims black:

It's not just a dressing/coating - it's a dye as well. Has been ordered - waiting for it to arrive and then will be testing it out.

In response to Tiggers intention to this thread. Had the Tig white onyx wolf for two months now so an update on qhat has been good and not as good wrt to minor mods. Expect I will need to do in a few parts.
THE GOOD:
1) CQUK Ceramic coating - self applied
2) G4 coating to exterior plastic / rubber - self applied
3) Blackvue 900 dashcam with Powermagic Pro - self installed
4) Wireless QI charging plate in foward console tray ex AliExp.
5) LED lights in trunk & glovebox - only problem was gbox light needed a bit if filing. Much whiter and brighter.
6) Spectra ceramic window tint to sort of match the factory privacy tint - see other thread on tinting.
7) Front number plate mount removal and plugging - see other thread on number plates.

NOT AS GOOD MODS
1) Door speaker bling accents - despite the price needed a bit of heat gun work to shape them correctly. Ended up ok.
2) Centre console drop in tray. Fits well but expensive for what it is and fiddly to access below
3) OEM sunshade for windscreen - fits good but quality wise on par with $10 Supercheap one so quite expensive for what you get.
4) Chemical Guys Wheel Wax on my black wheels. Not much differnce to dust build up - still needs wiping with a cloth after carwash pressure gun wash to clean all residue.

1) Outer door sill protection - considering the attached from Monteford. Any recommendations??
2) VCDS tweaks - would like the speed limit sign to show on the HUD - I see it on infotainment screen but not HUD as per VW promotional stuff. Found the setting for the other diaplayed items but no option to activate. Other Wolf owners?
3) Roof bars - Whisbar??? After something sleek, black and quiet
4) Considering a set of aluminium MGP brake caliper covers in a black or subtle colour. Yes I know people will say there are issues with heat build up but I am not driving it hard and apparently they assist with diverting brake dust off the rims. The existing caliper castings are quite rough. I just need the part numbers for the calipers so MGP can advise of correct part. I haven't got around to pulling off wheels to locate. Anybody know what this is for Mk2??

In my case, it’s somehow ruin my dynamic light assist system via obdeleven. Now the lights aren’t calibrated correctly and the ‘beam shaping’ component is all over the place and it looks like the lights are aimed to far to the side in general.

When on back roads and doing under 95kph, mostly fine, when on a 100+ multi lane road, the right light refuses to go onto auto-highbeam- never mind beam form mode.

When they do their startup routine, all seems well though! Gah!

Painted the lower trims with Forever Black last night:

41876

41877

I'm 90% happy with the result. There's some streaks in it which I'll have to fix up but that comes from putting the second coat on in the half-dark. It still is a different colour/texture to the body panels (to be expected) but it does blend in a lot better than the grey plastic.

It's easy to apply and simple to clean up any paint that has touched a body panel/silver trim with a wet cloth.

In comparison to plasti-dip which I've used before the Forever Black is a little harder to get an even finish (due to brush applicator rather than spray), however I think the finish is better and certainly less "rubbery". Time will tell how it stands up.

Yes sure I'll post up once it gets installed. Unfortunately the intake didn't get shipped out before HP closed for Xmas. It's only going to get dispatched once they come back on the 14th Jan. So will have to wait a few more weeks yet.

I purchase the R600 intake because it's relatively quiet and discreet under the hood and because it allows higher air flow rates than stock.

It really depends what you're looking to achieve. The stock intake with snow-grate delete is good for stage 2 power output.

The only other reason to change the intake is if you want more induction noise. If that's your goal then there are other intakes on the market that will be better suited.

Or if you wanted under-bonnet bling there's some nice carbon intakes like Eventuri.

Thanks Tigger. I will watch this space. Curious more than anything after doing some airbox mods / K&N filters on previous rides. Main objective was a minor improvement in performance with a very mild induction noise a bonus. Sounds like a snow grate removal only for me for now, with an eye on what I might consider down the track.

That’s all I have done so far also, snow grate removal and resonator delete. Talking to APR they have an airbox that looks close to OEM for $699 installed and will most likely go with that. Tiggers airbox looks the goods, it’s most likely similar to what APR are offering.

I hope you didn't actually go buy and install those caliper covers.

Imagine flying down a highway and they dislodge and go between your spokes and caliper, what's going to happen?

I'm all good for aesthetic mods, but caliper covers are ridiculous and also dangerous.

These are classy cars, not Honda Civics.

Hi.. Yes it works fine. The first one I got was a bit fickle but they immediately sent a replacement. It is a pretty simple thing just made of 3 layers of acrylic sheet with the QI device sandwiched in there. USB diect connected phone will take priority over pad charging if you want to go that way to use wired connection for Carplay / Android Auto no problem. I find it really convenient.

Installed a VIOFO a129 front and rear dash cam system. I did a pretty decent job hiding all the cables.

There not visible, except at their camera location- where it’s not possible to hide a short piece.

Running the thick rear cable through all the various trim pieces caused me to knock out one retaining clip on Re-assembly, from the lower c-pillar trim. I couldn’t be bothered fishing it out, so that trim is now held in by the rest of it’s clips. No issues at least :)

Hillbilly, you just tug it off, by getting your fingertips in the small gap between the top of that trim and the glass. From there lever it off, pretending the other side is the hinge. Does that make sense?

Hi Hillbilly. Cant advise you there. Only put cam in the front. Considering rear cam too but not high on my list, so will follow suggestions with interest.

How did the mudflaps fit I have a pair ready to go on and thought for the price they are pretty flimsy in comparison to the Passat and Polo ones I bought for a lot less.
Does the bumper protector fold over the edge of the bumper or just sit on top of it I intend to use 3m clear film over edge and down the back and maybe get a protector to sit on top of it

They’re not as ‘integrated’ looking as I’d hoped, but they’re pretty discreet, and blend in with the black plastic trim pretty well. Is always a bit nerve wracking drilling 10 holes in a brand new car though, even if it is just in the plastic...

bumper protector is on top, with a small lip that goes down over the edge, it’s actually plastic which surprised me, I though it was metal - looks good though. I also put the edge protector on the boot as well, though that looks a bit naff, so it may end up coming off again. It’s basically one of those clear plastic bubble stickers, again I thought it was metal, so given the price I was a bit disappointed with it.

They gave me the wrong cross bars first go round that were too short. I figured the box photos with part numbers might be handy.

Both the bars in the box are the same length so it's pretty simple to fit. Takes about 5 min once setup and the same to remove.

This weeks improvements to the Rline

In the bottom pic you can just see the edge line of the3M film A bit shorter cos thats all I had but as wide as it needs to be.

Top edge is under the alloy

Have done all the door sills and the illuminated kick plates as well All up about $40 of Film

Alloy protectors have the L designation because thats what they call the Allspace in China where I got the protectors from. They reckon they wouldnt fit but they do. They dont do one for the SWB even though they are the same Cost $104 got here in under 2 weeks

The mudflaps are VW part no 5NA 075 111A Cost $117 at VW parts

I bolted two Cibie Super Oscar LED driving lights to the front of it for long trips and they make an astounding difference to the stock LED headlights. No pictures unfortunately as I have since taken them off but the brackets come out through the gap at the front of the hood and bolt to the top of the fan/radiator cover using the stock bolts and a couple of nutserts we put in for added strength. When they are off no one would know that anything had been there at all. If I could figure a way to do it with no modification to the car I would put a Chinese light bar on it when the driving lights are not on. I don't want the light bar on the roof and the centre camera gets in the way.

Just an obsevation as I dont know where you are but the ADR's have rules about lights above the bonnet line (presuming yours are mounted like that) as per here

Vic roads VS129 Drivers view Is same for all states

Fog lights & additional headlights (driving lights) : VicRoads (https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/vehicle-safety/fog-and-driving-lights)

Basically VS129 says drivers must have an unobstructed view over bonnet 11m in the front 15deg to R side and 56 deg to left taken at a point 760mm above drivers seat cushion with it in centre of forward/backward travel. Applies to lights, light bars and 100mm wide aerial bases

Seems not a lot know this like the guy in our area with 2 great big (about 10in) lights mounted on top of his bullbar

is that Chinese market bumper protector alloy rather than plastic like the one we get here? Much nicer if so - I was a bit disappointed with it being plastic when it arrived.

As for what I did today, gave it a good clean after a longish drive yesterday, and found more scratches and chips that must have been there at delivery....
the tally so far stands at:
two dints in the bonnet from it being pushed down to close it (fixed perfectly by the dealer to be fair)
bird**** etching on the rear passenger side door.
sticky residue on the hatch from the foam numberplate thingy being removed (easily cleaned)
and now I've noticed scratches and chips on the rear driver side window, like it has been cleaned with steel wool after being pummeled with rocks or something. also some pretty decent sized chips in the glass.
a bit hard to complain about 5 weeks after delivery though. Paint on the door is fine, which makes me wonder if it has been repainted....

I haven't done the VW post sales survey yet mind you...

Yes both are alloy and I ended up only paying $50 for them as they were supposed to send plain ones but sent the stickered ones.

The inner one didnt stick too well so I used some tape I use for dashcams to hold it down after cleaning it all with isopropyl alcohol

Never push a bonnet shut you drop it from 10 ins Mine only has a small chip out of the rubber around the windscreen Nothing else

Been a while since I’ve done anything to my car but found a couple of items on eBay/AliExpress that I ordered a little while ago that finally turned up.

I did the Golf R Mk7.5 exhaust install a few months ago but never got around to posting any pics so here you are:

I had the stick on paddle extensions behind the steering wheel and while the worked well I found they stuck out a bit far so there wasn’t much gap between them and the indicators/wiper stalks. I found these one on AliExpress and were quite cheap compared full replacements I had seen:

AliExpress (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/Kg870nO)

Install was really easy, just need a small pair on needle nose pliers. Think the look much better than the stick on ones:

The other item I found when browsing on eBay (must stop doing that) were replacement LED indicators for the OEM ones in the wing mirrors. I always thought the OEM ones looked a bit average almost cheap looking.l and since painting my mirror caps black thought they stood out a bit. These replacement ones are a smoked colour so blend into the black mirror better plus they are scrolling LEDs so look sweet:

They are also much brighter than the OEM ones, before doing this I didn’t realise how dim the OEM ones are.

I’m in the process of repainting on of my mirror caps, as you can see in one of the photos the plastidip is starting to peel away from a stone chip. Thought I would try changing the rear spoiler to black as well so it looks like the MY18.5 models. I have a can of the glosifier for the plastidip so will use this on the spoiler and once done I’ll post pics showing how it turns out.

Really easy, took about 5-10mins each. Just pop the mirror lens off the pop the lens cap off. 2 screws and the black plastic front surround will come off then 2 more screws and the LED will come out.

Bumping this old thread... :)

Fitted the Helix “Plug and Play” soundsystem today. Got the subwoofer box one rather than the spare tyre one which probably wouldn’t have fit.

Should have got one ages back, amazing for the $! Not quite Dynaudio sound quality but damn good bang for buck and way cheaper than you could make an equivalent sounding setup. I had previously installed an underseat sub and small 4 channel amp for some extra oomph, the Helix kit is orders of magnitude better for sound quality.

It’s one of the choices when you have driving data as the central display (avg speed, avg consumption, etc) fuel needed to fill tank is another option (maybe standard- can’t recall)

Those thermometers aren’t pin-point accurate. They average an area of contact points within a ‘cone of view’ the ratio should be written on the body. Maybe 10:1 up to 50:1 for the expensive ones. The ratio meaning at 10m To a flat, perpendicular target (day a wall) it is reading an area 1m in diameter.

In the engine bay, it will get readings from various surfaces- as they aren’t exactly perpendicular to its ‘cone beam’ nor at the same emissivity(sp?)

So, don’t take its reading for gospel.

If you can get a long enough thermocouple and want to risk putting it down the tube, while you’re driving, you can get a more accurate number- not practical though.

Or, you could have a sensor tapped into the block/oil line somewhere and take live readings while the car is running ;)

Just taking the mirror lens and top cap off should be enough to get to the motor assembly to grease it I think.

Mine actually started squeaking when opening and closing as well but never got round to doing this before I got rid of it.

I've got the 2019 162TSI R-Line and I think the Bluefin tune does make a big difference and for a fraction of the price of say an APR tune which I was also considering. With the Bluefin you get the controller so if I ever want to go back to stock I don't need to go revisit the APR dealer, I'd just reach out to the guys at superchips for support and do it myself.

In short would I recommend the Bluefin tune? Yes. Save the extra money for other mods!

Kha0r do you know putting the Bluefin tune would void the VW warranty? I recently bought my my19.5 162TSI r-line. I Dont want to Void the Warranty this soon.

Yes, you’ll void your drivetrain warranty on your new car.
Not a problem for some as they are willing to take that risk. I’d definitely wait 12Months, just to make sure that the ECU is ok. Flashing it back to stock and go and claim your warranty like the car was never tuned doesn’t have to work, since the VW will figure out that the car was running outside of the factory parameters.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on whether a tune voids warranty or not. Some say yes, others say no, some say it depends on the individual dealer... I haven't experienced it first hand but a stage 1 was the first thing I did to the car because the difference is night and day.

As for a Stage 1 tune, no other mods are required. I just got the intake for the noise... but it's not that noticeable actually.

Osko not even joking, please try the bluefin. It’s got a two week no questions trial. You receive it. Plug it into your car. The thing downloads your cars map. You plug the thing into the pc. The pc talks to bluefin. Within a few hours someone in England sends you the new map. You download on car. Done. It’s amazing.

The difference is honestly there. I’ve had tunes before like on the golf r, where it’s pronounced... but this is real good. I don’t want to gee it up and set expectations too high, you know what I mean?

But it’s very good. Not going to ruin it for you any more than that.

And yes I’ve tuned a lot of cars over the years, Japanese and German.

I did the intercooler install myself to save $ in labour. Budget on a full day in the drive and you should be fine. It’s not difficult just a bit time consuming.

Also if you are going to attempt it take photos of each connector/wire before you remove them so you can remember where they go when putting everything back.

Quite a few DIY videos on YouTube too - mostly for Mk7 Golf but they’re almost identical (exact same steps just some small differences in wires depending on if you’re running fogs or ACC).

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI got an 034 adjustable rear sway bar installed in early December.
I have been running the Eibach springs since early September.
The sway bar has really firmed up the ride and has eliminated all body roll.
The bar was installed using the firmest setting.
The springs on their own did a good job of removing most of the sloppiness around bends.

If your not fussed about the ride height, get the sway bar first.
Otherwise get the springs done first, that's my take on it.

Beedub

Well I was warned off the Whiteline rear sway bar for not being strong enough and since I already had the lowered springs the end result would be that I wouldn't be able to tell that I had a rear sway bar installed.
Therefore if the Whiteline is an upgrade to the stock Golf R sway bar then I would hazard a guess that it wouldn't be worth sourcing and fitting the Golf R sway bar to your Tig since you've got the springs already.

As far as I know there's a 22 mm and a 24 mm Whiteline solid rear swaybar available. A 24mm with adjustment should make a substantial difference if yours is fitted with an 18 mm or 20 mm standard rear swaybar and a still noticeable difference if fitted with a standard 22 mm.

As for the lowered spring effect on swaybar rates, it's actually the reverse. Lowered springs almost always have higher spring rates, necessary to absorb the bumps in the lesser amount of travel. Since a swaybar effectively links the springs across the axle line raising the spring rate increases the anti roll effect of the swaybar. As a result increasing the swaybar rating together with increased springs rates gives even more antiroll.

Just replacing the soft rubber D bushes with polyurethane increases the antiroll as the rubber soaks up some of the swaybar's effect.

My first suggestion would be to measure the diameter of your OE rear swaybar, there are a few different sizes from what I have seen.

Cheers
Gary

There's no noise or vibration with the insert.
I made the mistake of going full race mode with the Racingline lower engine mount and pendulum mount. Everything vibrated on idle, it was horrible.
Now I've got zero vibrations or noise with none of the drivetrain movement.

No point upgrading the front anti roll bar (often called a sway bar) as the Tiguan naturally understeers, increasing the front one will induce more understeer.

Upgrading the rear one will make the car turn better, however if you go too thick you'll risk the chances huge oversteer OR lift off oversteer if driven in anger.

Don't take this the wrong way but it is a Tiguan, handles like a boat so get over it. I drove our Golf Performance the other day after a long absence from behind its steering wheel and marvelled out how it actually went where you pointed it. The Tiguan takes a message and thinks about what it is supposed to do when someone turns the wheel. Admittedly the Tiguan is on 17's and the Golf on 19's but both have their good points and work as designed. I deliberately refused to buy the R line because of the wheels and driving on dirt a lot so I put up with what it does not do. The CoG is way too high to stop the body roll no matter what you do to it. If you make it too stiff at one end it will pitch from back to front over bumps so keep that in mind.

Yeah I don’t think anyone is expecting it to handle like a lotus but the fun is improving it.

VWs handle pretty good anyway so a Tiguan I found handles better than any comparable SUV. Putting some springs and a sway bar to go with all the power a modified 162TSI has is actually quite rewarding and gives some surprising results! I thought the smallest wheels on a Tiguan are 18s?

Probably a debatable opinion, but if you’ve got lowering springs, is there any real benefit from an upgraded rear sway bar? I would’ve thought the springs would already do most of the work that the bar would do.

Only if they're stiffer, if they're of the same identical spring rate then not really - except lowering the COG.

Adding in a rear anti roll bar will help the car turn better, however you'll find if you ever decide to take it off road you might end up with a scenario where it dog legs.

There are thick books written about this stuff so educated guesses are not a good idea as these days it costs a lot of money to make a mistake which will have to be undone by spending more money. I advise anyone that is going to modify the suspension of a car to do some study and ask question of knowledgeable people first. We used to do it years ago and basically it cost us very little and no one had the knowledge then anyway or no one we knew had it and anything we did was generally an improvement on what the car manufacturer did. These days suspensions are generally engineered well and though a lot of people modify suspensions not many get the car to be better than the manufacturer as an all round answer. I have never seen anyone modify a car suspension and then admit they got it wrong.

I have never seen anyone modify a car suspension and then admit they got it wrong.

I have, when I was doing heaps of track work in the R33 Skyline. Went down the while super thick af ARBs with just Bilstein shocks with springs and the car although handled well it would pitch too much on braking and lift off oversteer and/or snap oversteer.

Ended up reworking the lot and went super stiff springs (10kg front and 7kg rears) with revalved MCA coilovers and ran both front and rear ARBs on the softest settings. Ended up doing 1m9s from a 1m12s around Wakefield Park (same driver), my mate was doing consistent 1m8s in it.

So yeah wasted money and time but my experiences stiff ARBs isn't always the best solution.

Ozsko
22-01-2020, 01:48 PM
Stiff ARB's are a trap for beginners, too much wheel lift and a planted wheel has grip which is something a lot of people forget. Yes it costs a lot to undo mistakes something else people forget and a lot of people would not think of using someone like Murray Coote. I must be getting old because I spent some time with him in NZ on a Heatway Rally back in the 70's. Our kart did 1.01 around WP with 125cc.

Dose Pipe Sutututu

1.01 around WP is a fast time, regardless of type of vehicle.

However we all know the challenges in making a R33 Skyline fast around a track lol.. they're call boats for a reason.

I've gone through a few different suspension setups in the past and can safely say I've gotten it wrong a few times - however with trial and error and going outside the norms of most people's suspension modification journeys I can say putting in ARBs shouldn't be the first on the list.

(unrelated) going to see if I can do 1m5s in the Boatline soon around WP. Recently it has had a new motor/hotside setup put in as well as some additional suspension mods. Just need to get off my backside hire out a dyno and tune it.

Springs first, then see how the car handles. If it unders a bit going into corners and upgrade the rear ARB to help it turn more - however as mentioned earlier, with a thicker ARB the car will be unforgiving when driven in anger. Also remember a thicker from ARB will promote understeer.

Sydneykid
23-01-2020, 08:24 AM
I always do the rear swaybar first (on a FWD biased 4WD), it's the best bang for buck handling upgrade by a long way. Plus if your halfway handy with a spanner it's a DIY exercise, no special tools required.

People choose springs first because of the "look" and workshops recommend springs first because they make more money.

The problem with upgrading springs only is matching them with the damper rates in the shocks. That's why OEM lowering is pretty conservative, 10mm etc. Which means that they don't need to increase the spring rate too much and the shock can cope with the small increase. When we get to 25/30mm lowering then the required spring rate increase can often be too much for the shock to control.

Cheers
Gary

Ozsko

Get the springs right which can mean multiple sets = money ? repeated times & then get some adjustable dampers from someone who knows how to set them up on a damper dyno to suit the spring rate, Murray Coote can help there. They are not shock absorbers they are dampers as their primary job is to dampen the spring oscillation when the spring is compressed hence the point about raised spring rates and damper control. Disconnect them and take a car for a drive and you will quickly work out what they do. Carry on, just my favorite little rant when suspension is discussed. Everyone says they like oversteer and when they have to deal with it on a day to day basis work out that it is not such a great idea after all. There are two kinds of oversteer, steady state which highly skilled drivers can utilise but usually prefer it dialled back to neutral/understeer and rear end breakaway which is out of control/wet yourself oversteer and no one likes that.

Can't agree more here! and another reason you see so many P platers cars wrapped around trees - because first suspension mod they did was find the thickest rear ARB on Whiteline catalogue to reduce body roll and activate grip, nek minnit lift off oversteer.

In other news got my car back with the cooler and revised tune- a much more respectable 220kws! I’m super happy and the car hauls a## now!

It’s double points so I have literally only given it a bit on a short road in some back street, and the odd 2 sec burst here or there, but traction light came on and it puts you back in your chair now.

On the dyno, Jim did about 5 runs in a row and the car kept making the power figure without and drop in output, which was a testament to the CTS intercooler and tune. Heat soak is a non issue so strong repeatable power runs. Surprisingly, given how big this intercooler is compared with a stock unit, it actually gained power across the entire rev range showing that the stock one was quite restrictive.

Dyno was run on the past Friday when it was 32.5 degrees so a conservative power figure you could assume. Bring on winter!!

Hey I just noticed on the dyno sheet, my new ratio says 4.860:1, where the old one said 3.750:1. I called up and asked about it and was told as this is a hub dyno there isn’t inertia to worry about.

Is this a thing? Any tech experts that can explain? What’s TCF?

It’ll depend what gear each dyno was run in. Some will run in 4th and some in 5th. If you want a “happy” result they’ll run it in 3rd gear

Depending on what gear is used for the run either 4/5/6 the ratio is changed to get a derived RPM output.

TCF total correction factor, this can be applied to compensate for atmospheric pressure difference depending on altitude where the car was tuned, also applied based on ambient air temperature.

TCF = 1.0 could mean (depending on what has been set as the ideal environment) ambient air temperature is 23 degrees and atmospheric pressure is registering at 100kpa.

You should always run up a car with a gear that's 1:1 - if you want less stress on the motor you would change the ramp rate.

So in the DQ500, you would select 4th gear

Well, as we settle into the “new” reality of living with a pandemic, I decided to go out and grab an LED replacement globe for the boot of the Tig.
Wow, what a difference it makes, but now that detachable torch light now looks both very weak and very yellow.

I picked up this unit from Jaycar (360 deg output)

Thanks for the link. I had tried that way before I saw it...managed to pry it out eventually. I bought the same globe you got and confirm it’s a little short in the 2020 Tiguan Allspace (I bent the contacts inwards a little to get around this).

Hi, I'm Chris from Indonesia. I jut got my Tiguan delivered last month, sadly there is only one variant that available in my country which is the Tiguan Allspace 1.4 TSI so I cannot choose the other specification as the R-Line model. VW Indonesia have to remove some options to reduce the price so it can be accepted by the market, so I decided to do some upgrades by myself to complete the optional stuffs. Here is my Tiguan, hopefully we can share some thoughts and inputs, thanks! :)

In the two weeks since I took delivery of the Tiguan, I’ve upgraded the boot and glovebox bulbs to led, added an after market boot rubber mat and had the front drivers and passenger windows tinted. A few bits also ordered off Aliexpress (Centre console tray, better led bulb replacements for boot and glovebox). Have been reading into a wireless adapter For android auto but not found any options yet. Am considering the Obdeleven for a few options (precious car had auto lock when walking away which would be great to have). Anyone tried vinyl wrapping the front number plate bracket to help it blend in more or is removal the better option?

Not really as it locks too fast and if your passenger hasnt shut the door fast enough it still locks the rest. You only have to touch the handle which isnt too much of a bother and you can enable horn beep on locking to remind you it locked

Correction it only locks with ALL doors shut

I think OP is coming from the perspective that sometimes after you’ve walked far away enough from your car that you realise you may not have locked it. Something which folded mirrors or a horn beep wouldn’t help with.

It sounds like getting the auto lock might not be the best. My Mazda 3 had it and I loved it.... am getting used to having to lock it and yeah plenty of options. touching the handle works well as does the good old remote. And yeah like the mirrors folding on lock.

OBD11 arrived pro. Now have:

- traffic sign recognition displayed (why is this not standard?)
- disabled the sat nav safety message that does not switch itself off (improved safety as not switching the message off while driving)
- disabled the overtaking on right prevention.
- 30 colours to choose for dash highlights (red dash highlights means it goes faster right??)
- rear lights on when the tailgate is opened.

Also learnt the OBD11 app to turn on the traffic sign recognition does not work on my model, so undid it and also learned how to clear the faults it caused.

Can also see the fault impacting my drivers seat but won't reset that (it does not remember settings correctly/do the courtesy movement correctly) - have to book in for warranty check for that.

Reason for 1 is because our maps dont have required data to work properly

It should be able to be done if you go back in the thread and find Phonebooths instructions

5 is a good way to run your battery flat Dont ask how I found that out

Drivers seat wont go back as you get out if battery is down a bit It is set as per the manual and can be a bit finickity at times.

My Passat did that and they wanted $1300 to fix it I charged the battery and cleared the faults and it worked again

Tiguan did it on Thursday Went for a run for an hour and it works again

Usual reason is either tried to do it via an app which doesnt work or failed to follow the detailed instructions provided on here Here are the detailed instructions for DLA (Courtesy Phonebooth) and traffic sign recognition

Have looked and looked but can only find LHD versions ,which due to the shape of the console wont fit RHD LHD tapers on the right ours on the left

There are this type Wireless Charger Wireless Car Charger Silicone Anti skid Pad Mobile Phone Fast Charger Quick Charge Mobile Phone Accessories|Car Chargers| - AliExpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001156820054.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.44ed2e0e3 g3SoY)

However be aware the console tapers to the back and is only 165 wide at the back. Also ours dont have the removable floor in the console to fix the very exoensive VW part ($100+)

I bet dealer wont do any mods like that. MIne even told me DLA wasnt possible but it works

Just cos its in the manual doesnt mean it has them Manuals are generic across models
