Hi all, I will pick up my new Passat next week. After the terrible experience of my Golf VI (2012), I'm seriously thinking to get the extended warranty.

I've had a look the following threads but still can't decide which is the best:

VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty
(http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f15/vws-3-year-extended-warranty-28828-73.html#post1111815)

Extended warranty for Passat
(403 Forbidden (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2372472))

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thank you

VW's, if you can afford it.

It's basically a direct extension of the first 3 years of warranty that comes with the car.

Not some half-baked scheme that's tied to an equally half-baked 'service' plan.

So do you know roughly how much is it or where can I get a good deal?

Can't seem to locate extended warranty info on the updated vwaus website. Anyway, when it was there the extra 2yr VW manufacturer warranty for Passat B8 was $2000. Speak with your dealer before you get the key.....

Thank you.

They've removed many things from their web site...

A bit more info for you......

See email reply from VWAUS this morning to my question re: factory extended warranty:

Good morning James,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the extended warranty.

I can confirm that the 2 year extended factory warranty is still available to purchase at the time of purchasing a brand new vehicle form a Volkswagen dealership.

For more information and costs, please contact a Volkswagen dealership.

You can locate your local dealership by clicking on the following link: Find a Dealer | Volkswagen Australia (http://volkswagenaustralia.com.au/findadealer/)

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Thank you for contacting Volkswagen Group Australia.

Kind regards

Also, here is an archive of the VW AUS 'Factory extended warranty' page from the VW AUS site as it appeared in April 2016:

Of course... You want to be looking at Waybackmachine (http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj63eXa6YbRAhXDFJQKHTzBCKQQFggbMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.waybackmachine.org%2F&usg=AFQjCNGBbIDCfHASBU7T97qxFMxTcjmkBg&sig2=2_QHDdcXNmGz0c1nkpLwKA). Quite simple to use, once at the wayback site type in the website you want ie: Volkswagen Australia (http://www.volkswagen.com.au) & once in there select a date from the past to look at the particular archived pages.

Thanks Riker! Hopefully dealer can honour the price on the old web site...
