I couldn't sell mine, either. It was a 2008 wagon with everything but sunroof and Dynaudio and only around 60,000km. I ended up trading it and I think it's found a new home somewhere in Victoria.

I reckon people aren't buying because of the same reason I was moving on: it's an eight year old (mine was, anyway) Volkswagen with a flappy paddle gearbox. It misses out an all kinds of nifty gadgets that cars even only a couple of years newer have, particularly makes which haven't been tarnished by the DSG-gate or Dieselgate fiascos.
What new gadgets does it miss out of steve?
If you're talking about park assist, reversing camera (which some 08s have), and lane departure warning an blind spot warning? If you need these ppl shouldnt have their fcking licence.
Its alot of car for at this price point. Considering an 08 xt Forster selling for about the Same dollars hasn't got any gadgets in at all NONE! even the seat adjustment mechanism is still manual.

That sucks man! The guy accepted $5k less than what he wanted cuz no one was interested. I think he was having the same problem with the sat nav and sunroof but im not interested in a roof what a wank of an accessory anyway and i upgraded to the rns510 after i bought it.
I would say that the market is moving away from sedan base and everyone wants the soft-roaders
How much you charge for the defuser? I might get one off you.

When I bought, I wanted a slick top and I didn't care about the MY09 > toss white dash lights and sat nav etc..I bought it for all the performance aspects. I still love it and reckon they are a great package.
I sell the diffuser kits for $139.00, they are on ebay or my website.

I think people are pretty specific when it comes to R36s. For me it had to be a Biscay Blue Wagon with a sunroof. The more I read on the subject the more I realised that it had to be an MY10, which didn't have the DSG issues of the earlier cars, plus relatively low kms (mine had 79K when I bought it 18 months ago.) Getting the other options was a bonus and finding out it out Adaptive Cruise Control was a pleasant surprise - the dealer didn't know! I did pay too much for mine and I've had some issues, but I do love it.
I think in general people are wary of European prestige models with lots of kms and unless you find someone who really wants one and is prepared to look after it then the market is a limited one. Plus all of the tech stuff new cars have for not a lot more coin plus a warranty, people will buy new or near new.

Surprised you haven't had any interest. It's a great car for under $20k
If it was a manual wagon I'd be interested.

Mine is an MY08 and I've never had a DSG problem. Also I have decent wheels, not the crap OE ones which crack going over a pot hole.

I'm surprised you've had no interest eurobahn5, I'm considering selling my R36 to upgrade and with the level of interest for your well looked after 36 I may have to reconsider. Good luck with the sale, I hope you manage a sale soon

The ad is still on carsales so I guess if the right offer comes along it's still for sale.
Although these are great cars they are getting to the age that things are starting to wear out and potential maintenance costs are probably what keeps people away from owning these. They are not a cheap car to maintain if anything does go wrong.
If you have a look at redbook it actually lists the 2009 sedan valuation prices:
*Private Price Guide $15,800 - $18,100
*Trade In Price Guide $12,300 - $14,600
*Average Km 110,000 - 180,000
Now I know everyone says that redbook is not on the money yada yada, however a lot of dealers will look at it to base their trade-in offers. And if you get a better offer, more than likely they are playing with margins in the car they're selling you to make the trade-in look better than it is.
Anyway regardless the reason that all the R36s are sitting around its clear they are priced too high for people to take the punt on them. And/or their current owners are enjoying them too much ;)
I love the R36 too, but would only own one if I got it for a very good price and had the money in the bank for any future repairs. Plus I'd be after the white MFD with newer style steering wheel, blue, wagon. So yes people can get pretty picky on colours, options, body style... which makes it hard to sell as people are often very specific with these cars.

R36s are starting to get a bit old for some used car dealers now. However those who put one in the yard tend to factor in a decent margin to cover the possibility of paying for expensive repairs as a warranty claim.
