Anyone out there that has played with aftermarket cat converters for a 2.5l petrol T4 (2002)?
I have a real “tinnie buzzy” sound under acceleration that does largely go away once the transporter is up to temperature. Not bad at idle when cold. Certainly seems to be coming from inside the cat itself and have checked all the normal heat shield issues etc. But having said all this the brick doesn’t seem to be loose inside the cat when tapped?? Any other areas to look at that could cause this symptom?
For a replacement, I would like to source the quietist aftermarket I can find. I have tried a high flow sports cat on another T4 and it was very raspy and hopeless. I guess you get what you pay for…. The OEM VW cat was around $1600 the last time I checked!
Any recommendations appreciated.
Thanks
