Some Tassie CAMS affiliated clubs

The MG car club is cams affiliated. I think it is tassies largest sporting car club. It is a very active club, offering 10 competition events and lots of social events also. Its only real problem is an ageing population.

The light car club is mainly Launceston based and they are also cams affiliated, but only run speed events and no motorkhanas.

The north west car club is cams affiliated also, they run many hillclimbs, one motorkhana, circuit events, and also run rallies.

This is just a few that i have had involvement with, but there are plenty of others.
If you want contact details for any of these clubs, pm me and i will pass them on.

If you go to www.cams.com.au they list all the clubs in whatever region you are in. I am in Club Motorei Italia and those guys are a friendly bunch. Lots of Italian cars in their newsletter for some reason! Lots of MG stuff in their newsletter too! CMI can certainly organise hillclimbs well and the rest of the Tasmanian clubs could take lessons from them. MG run great motorkhanas, very slick

The Brindabella Motor Sport Club is one of two "rally" clubs in the ACT. CAMS affiliated and friendly to all car lovers - although non-rally members may come in for some good natured ribbing :-) Kahna and other non-speed events are also held regularly.
Check http://www.bmsc.com.au/ to join on-line.

Charles.

Tell them Chuck sent you ;-)

VWCWA Inc have not been with CAMS since we pulled the pin in '83, as the fees were over the top for little on offer. Club fees would have to go up if we rejoined and I suspect the number of members wanting a CAMS lic would be minimal.

There's also the Vintage Sporting Car Club inc. (VSCCWA). Although there's not too many of us on here with cars 'vintage' enough to qualify. Maybe some early mk1's.
I still joined coz a friend lends me his mk1 Escort RS2000 to race:nana:

WRX Owners Club of WA are CAMS affiliated. www.wrxownersclub.com.au

There's a few VW's in the club (couple of R32's and a few GTI's including mine, plus some Porsches). Club is very much focused on track and motorsport activities. Dont get any ricer's in the club as they tend to stick to internet forums and fully sic cruises.
Very well organised and great value track and tuning days at AHG, Barbagallo, Collie, Mt Ommanney hillclimb. We get to use the long track at AHG on 2 Sundays of the year. Only club that does so from what I understand (due to the popularity of the V8 rides)

Around the Newcastle area the MG Car Club has a bunch of events including a few hillclimbs a year at the Ringwood Circuit (near Raymond Terrace), and the Mattara Hillclimb. They also do the odd Motorkhana and they had a track day down at Eastern Creek on VW Nationals Weekend too.

http://www.mgcarclub.com.au/

This is one of my mates demonstrating the Ringwood circuit.

I'm planning on joining the club soon.

No longer true I'm afraid. VWCV have let their CAMS affiliation lapse. There's move afoot to reinstate it but it'll take some time.

If you obtained your license under VWCV then you probably need to join another club to race as you have to have both a license and a current membership of a CAMS affiliated club.

Of course come renewal time you'll need to join some club other than VWCV in any case.

I chose PIARC.

Guys,

best run club i've ever been a part of, with a very very professional attitude is the Maserati club of Australia (inc). Annual fees are very low, and they can/do have a register for club permits.

Maserati Club of Australia, Inc. (http://www.maserati.org.au)

With this club, I am able to have my 1962 Vespa, and my 1972 Fiat Spyder club registered without any hassles. Also note, that the majority of members do NOT own a Maserati.

Hope this helps.

Dear God, I am dooing my head in looking for a CAMS affiliated club in Victoria hopefully in Melbourne or west of Melbourne. I have stumbled across some but they usually are involved with more advanced competition or dirt rally. I am after Gymkana's and track days.... mainly just the tame stuff and a club that is fairly large and active.
Any suggestions HUGELY appreciated as I am new to the whole club thing

There's a club finder on the CAMS website broken down by type of activity.

CAMS - Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (http://www.cams.com.au/Development/Club%20Zone/Club%20Finder.aspx)

A search for ALL in VIC returns 100 affiliated clubs.
