We already know that the removable magnetic torch in the rear of the Superb has been removed (decontented in car speak). Has anyone noticed that *all* lighting in the rear has also been removed? I've been watching some reviews and they all have three lights in the back. Two on the passenger side and one on the driver side.
The Aussie reviews all show no lights. Is that something just for the early builds or are Skoda Aus being really really cheap?
And if they are being cheap, did they ask that the wiring be removed as well? Is there anything under the blanking plates?

Hi bluesup,
My 16 wagon has it's boot lights on the tailgate so they're not visible in photos of the opened boot - I think that's standard. I believe the sedan has them in the boot, one on each side (plus the torch in OS models). Most of the Aussie reviews have been of the wagon - maybe that's the difference you've been seeing?
Otherwise it might be quirk in some of the demo models being supplied to the local press??
Cheers

There are a number of discrepancies between the specifications published either overseas or here & what is actually in the car. The torch has done a bunk. So has the secure storage under the passenger or driver's seat.
At the time I was buying the car the salesman distinctly told me, & showed me a spec he had, that I could charge a Samsung S6 or whatever, wirelessly in the phone tray. I don't have such a phone, but that was wrong too.
The lighting in the boot of the sedan is a dull glow, usable but dull. I see SuperSkoda is pedalling a range of brighter, direct replacement LED plugins & I believe a unit which can be unplugged to use as a torch.
One item I noted to be significantly different was the CO2 output. On Skoda's European sites, it comes up on the configurator as 199g/k, yet the Australian declaration sticker on the windscreen of the actual car said output is 169g/k. One or both, must be wrong. There is one certainty we can be assured, VAG/Skoda Aust aren't selling a special cleaner version of the 206kW motor than they sell in Europe!
I don't think VAG/Skoda out here spec anything. They're just takers of an allocation. The first models out here were those I reckon were a selection of an early production run which European buyers weren't buying. The confusion over the missing driver's knee airbag & rear privacy glass tells me Skoda/VAG out here knew not what they were getting. I suspect the airbag is probably a mandatory requirement in most of Europe. Mind you, their 'privacy glass' might be OK in Europe, but when is the last time you saw such a car in Australia without darker solar tinted windows anyway?
The torch & under seat storage irritate me, but when it comes to the car its self, it is fantastic. One day I hope I might see another 2016 Superb, let alone a 206 on the road. So far, I have not seen another on the road, sedan or wagon. I know a bloke with one not far from me, in Sefton, but I gather he seldom takes it out of his garage! I saw at least ten Octavias, old & new new wagons or Scouts around Wollongong earlier in the week, but no Superbs. I think this a direct result of Skoda just not bringing in enough stock.

I've put the SuperSkoda replacements in my wagon. Very easy to do and very bright.

So far I've only seen three other 2016 Superbs in Sydney and two of those were driving in convoy as part of the dealer training before the official release. I actually took mine down and up the Bulli Pass on Monday so there was another 206 briefly in your vicinity this week.

Thanks for the clarification. :-)
I was looking at the SuperSkoda site and saw those lights, then went back to the Aussie reviews but couldn't see the lights, hence the question.

Yes those are the ones. Like 2009fsi said the originals are useable but quite dull. The SuperSkoda ones are so much brighter and light up the whole area.

I didn't get the door ones. The originals seem to do the job well enough for me.
I also installed these LEDs for the rear indicators:

and these LEDs for the reverse lights:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291738930477?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/705-53470-19255-0/1?campid=5337592361&toolid=10001&mpre=http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/705-53470-19255-0/1?campid=5337592361&toolid=10001&mpre=http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291738930477?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)
They both install pretty easy with instructions provided in the Skoda manual. No errors with the CANBUS thingy. The reversing lights are much better as LEDs.

First boat load of the 2016 Superbs has landed in Perth and Melbourne and Sydney will be this Monday the 18th.
Then you might start seeing a lot more on the road. All other 2016 Demo models that we used at the dealers to have a test drive have all been none full 2016 Specs for Australia. They were mashed together rough versions to get them over here quick for their official release of the new model.
The real Aussie production models will be starting to appear on our roads withing the next 2~3 weeks.
I should have mine at the end of next week or middle of the week after at the latest.

Yes, ours in on Theben which is cruising to Melbourne and due here tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have ours by the 29th July. I've only see one Black Superb wagon on the roads here. Looked very good. Still not expecting to see all that many once ours arrives though.

Early production run maybe, ALF01, but definitely not 'mashed' together. A virtually fully automated, robotic, production line just doesn't turn out crap. If in Czech Republic, go & have a look. It's about a century of technology later than the Holdon & Ford factories being closed out here. It is a matter of national pride by the Czech's their engineering is the best. That's why Hit!er invaded them first & why Ivan wanted them on his side of the fence. Ladas & Trebuts weren't their idea.

"Mashed" was meant as a light hearted expression.
The Pre-Production Demo cars are most likely UK spec ones that have been sent over here. In the UK they can drill down and add/subtract far more add-ons then we can over here. The Demo I drove had parts missing that simply don't exist as a package option here.
In regards to quality, I hope you are right, as there are more then enough issues reported on BRISKODA.
Your comments regarding Hitler taking Czech Republic as one of the 1st, is way off base. Hitler took all countries that could be a threat as having an enemy close to the boarders. He took France, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Poland.....including Czech as these were right on the border of Germany. But his main focus was Russia.
We obviously read different history. Hint..my info doesn't come from English history.

Yes, he took them all, ALF01. You need to read a bit more history. Haven't you heard of the Sudeten Crisis in 1936-7, Neville Chamberlain's sell out of the Czechs in 1937; 'Peace in our time'? Czechoslovakia was his first stop. The tanks he needed to invade Poland, the Low Countries, Belgium & France in 1939-1940, were almost exclusively Czech tanks, made by Skoda.
The Superbs which arrived here post date earlier production sold in Europe & documented in Briskoda. There is cobbled together or substandard about the Sept 2015 manufactured cars which arrived out here. The only thing they don't have is the driver knee airbag. Why is a good question. All those I've seen have the privacy glass. If mine is parked beside your, when it arrives, you won't be able to tell the difference, unless the number of colours available for 'mood lighting' or the date on the plate is that important to you. All the bits that matter are the same. I keep good cars long, so I'll still have it long after the depreciation difference is of significance.
I'll be delighted for you when you get it on the road, ALF01. I hope your dealer pays more attention to delivery than mine did. Minor issues, but certainly not good enough. Who knows, you might be my first sighting of a sister car on the road!

Well, as for the lighting issue - my car is apparently due in about 1 month from now and I already have a stack of bits and pieces from SuperSkoda which I will be installing - 2 x new boot lights, the safety lights in the doors, a bootlip spoiler and (not from SuperSkoda) LEDs for the reverse lights & front fogs. I am happy to report back on them when they are done. I did notice that 2009fsi said something about a removable option for the lights in the boot which i didn't notice - can you please link me?? I do have the hatch though rather than the wagon so perhaps it is different.
I am interested in trying to retrofit the removable torch light but i don't have high hopes that Skoda included the required wiring..

The wagon we drove as a demo had the knee airbag and the privacy glass missing, but everything else was there.
Mine now came of the boat yesterday at 12:41PM in Sydney and from there on I can't track it anymore.
It has to be released by Customs and then shipped up to the Mid North Coast.
I will call in at the dealer on Thursday and see if they have got it or what the ETA is.

That's great backdoc.
I think almost too fast. It should go through the workshop to check mechanicals, fluid levels, wheel alignment, tyre pressures etc, before delivery. Ask your deal to give you a printout of the delivery service. If it goes through the workshop, there will be a record to print out. If they just wash it & screw the plates on, there won't.
Various small things & wheel alignment on mine needed doing, so I think mine got the wash & plates delivery service. My 206 showed minor signs of alignment problems in the first 400kms. It was well out when done side to side & front to back at my mate's Jax setup. I think worth getting checked.
Delivery aside, the car is fantastic, so I hope you'll be as happy with it as I am mine.

No whisker lights. That's part of Smart Light Assist. Definitely not required by us urban dwellers
