The WRX's love a standard GTi. It makes them feel better after having modified ones kick sand in their faces......:)
There is a trick to launching a WRX cleanly and 80% of the time they mess it up with a result of a fair hiding by a GTi.

Congratulations on the new car,
Colour, spec?
I agree with the whole WRX thing, when my car was not flashed i had a black 07 wrx 2.5t manual rock up next to me wanting to try things out.
1st and second i was ahead, 3rd he flogged me.
Very very different scenario now that its tuned.
I bet you will enjoy your car, hope it treats you aswell as mine has treated me :D

Yep I can’t see myself getting bored of this car either. Even though I’m taking it easy for now and staying below 3000rpm, it’s still a joy to drive.
Something interesting happened today: an XR4 (blue stripes on white) parked close to me. The XR4 was something I was considering before deciding on the GTI, but seeing it this morning near my Pogo – no contest. I’m so glad I went for the GTI. No disrespect to the Ford, but there seems to be an inexplicable aura about the GTI that the XR4 doesn’t have.

I gave a Skyline a hiding in a V6 Passat wagon with 4motion .... I don't care if it was wet. It gave me the biggest smile in a long time and him a big shock I'm sure.

I agree - I looked at the usual suspects - XR4, Ralliart Colt, Swift Sport, Mazda SP23.
The GTI was the superior choice. And just gets better every day unlike most cars.
The Recent Wheels comparo was spot on in virtually everything they said on the cars - it was a good review.

thanks for the info all . if you get the car chipped do you loose the warranty ?
I have done 1600 ks now and happy with the car, i drive to work very early in morning so i can hear lots off noise and i have been driving with the stereo off just so i can hear the car run, nice. , i was tossing up between a Suzuki swift sport and the xr4 or a second hand wrx or evo but went the polo.
Hope you all have a good new year

You only lose the warranty if you actually tell VW what you have done, or if they can relate a warranty claim somehow to the chip.
Go for the APR upgrade and you can switch back to standard before going anywhere near a VW service centre. Also supposedly undetectable to VW....
Do it, it turns it from a mildly sporty hatch into a firebreathing little monster. Its worth every cent...:)

APR is undectable if you take it to a VW dealer. Reason I went for the APR remap! :D

Yup I second that. Seb is at Girraween and is your man for GIAC chips, same power, still undetectable, you can switch it off and is usually a bit cheaper then the others. As Adam says he is 10-15 minutes away.
Enjoy the new car

Not at all a dumb Q. One thing you will discover is that different chips for VAG cars stir up some strong feelings, leading to chip wars so we'll try to avoid that
They are both very good, both about the same power, about 150kw. The big diff is switching programs. APR uses the wiper stalk to switch between programs, whilst GIAC uses a box that plugs into a port under the dash. They are both undetectable. APR is more expensive, however if you buy the GIAC switch box the prices get a lot closer. IMO it'll come down to what you can afford and who is closer. There are other players out there such as Revo, can I suggest using the search function to find out lots of info.

Seb GIAC software detected that I had the APR trial on, gave some wierd error. Im sure the dealers have caught on, but just dont care.

Generally the dealers will void your warranty if they can point at your mods (software or other) and say that the problem you are taking your car in for was caused by the mods.
If they cannot say that (ie you may have a suspension problem and the only mod you have made is software), then they will generally go ahead and fix under warranty.
It's basically a 'common sense' (I know ... oxymoronic statement) approach ... if there is a direct link between what you've done (modded) and the problem ... forget about your warranty ... it's gone.
