Hi all
I am a bit overloaded with information around the Bluetooth module .
I have A 2009 cc and it does not have BT at all.
I want to install on but was not sure if the 9w7 is the right one to get or not.

I have an RCD 510 Head unit

Can anyone else tell me if a 9w7 will work in my car ?

Hey Haris2887,

I'm not certain on this, but I believe the 9w7 or 9zz will work and function fine however you won't get the dial number pad like the RNS510 but all functions will work from the MFD phone menu.

Also yours been a 2009 you may not see the battery level and media icon on the MFD when on the phone menu, it may appear as square blocks as the MFD or instrument cluster is running older software before those features were introduced. I had this same issue with my 09 CC but then upgraded the instrument cluster from white to Colour and it now displays battery level and the media icon. No big deal tho as it functions fine

People say the 9w7 and 9wz is only for cars with white or colour mfd, this isn't true as I installed a 9w7 in my partners 2008 tiguan with the full sized red mfd. There is no phone menu but since it has the RNS510 everything can be controlled from there. I believe it will be the other way around for you with everything been controlled from the MFD

How much would I be looking to pay. I have a guy who is offering 500 supplied and fitted .. Is it a big job ? I have done heaps if head unit installs in the past. So I know my way around a soldering iron.

There is absolutely no soldering at all, if you buy the kit it comes with the mic and is pretty much plug and play with some VCDS coding.

Basically remove the head unit and a pilla, run the mic cable up to the top near the door lights, there will be a spot where it slots in. End of mic cable plugs in near the back of the head unit into the harness you get with the Bluetooth module.

Your original quad lock connector that you removed from the head unit will plug into the Bluetooth harness, then the other end plugs into your head unit which has the added green connector which is for the Bluetooth module.

factory spot for the Bluetooth module is under the drivers seat, You'll need to fish the cable through from the RCD to the Bluetooth module then code it up. Since you have a Nexus you will get some extra features from a 9ZZ which has RSAP support, which means wifi and sms's on the head unit, but you will need a RNS510 for that

Price wise I'm getting a 9ZZ kit with everything for some mates for $350 not sure how much the 9W7 is as I got that form a 2011 CC I'm wrecking

Here's some pics, I may be selling it in a few months if I can find a 3D diesel one.
