Andrew, we were having talks of having a small get-together when you get here! When Steve chimes in, we can get something organised :)

I don't know how many people will be willing to meet up, seeing as though it's right on the Christmas week, but I'm definitely up for it.

Steve Chiming in :D

More than happy to get something going, and also be more than happy to take the afternoon off work as I work in Granville which is only 5 mins from Homebush aswell, and only 2 mins from our Homebush office.

I had a quick read of the olympic Park map and basically there is a small grove patch of grass next to the Telstra Stadium that we can sit there as its where you can have a picnic called the Overflow:
http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/Visiting/recreational_activities/picnicbbq

This would also have a opportunity to continue our photography skills as with more cars there will be some awesome shots possible :)

This is the map that I was talking about, if you have a look at the bottom section where there is the stadium next to it is called the Overflow:

http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0013/832/sydney_olympic_park_map_2007.pdf

But up to other people, there is also KFC down the rd and we can also order pizzas if people like as I think there are a few pizza shops there!

Damn family lunches...

Hopefully I get a chance to wash the car tomorrow. The plan was to give it a good tub, clay bar and polish today, but it seems it was not to be. Ah well. If I'm lucky I will get time to give her a bath tomorrow, otherwise she will just ahve to come like the dirty ... never mind. :D

I'm 99% to be coming at the moment, just gotta see what happens with the boy tomorrow :) Going is't so much of an issue, but getting him home and in bed is. Thems the joys of living in the boonies in Campbelltown :(

Are you serious!! We were just talking about that with Matt in the afternoon as well haha. Did he give you demerits too? The fine and penalty without having P-plates here is actually $225 + 2 demerit points. It's bloody ridiculous.

And it looks like we're making a name for ourselves on the roads j:

was good to meet all the new ppl who i havent seen before, alex, mark, ray-post-ray again and all the rest of you including mr Tassy man himself Andrew, sorry we didnt hang around for the rest of it!

regarding that fine, i thought vic style p plates were legal in nsw now? ive seen plenty of them used, i would definately look into it as how is a interstater supposed to know what colour a p plate or where it sits state to state.. pretty stupid!

yes .. well he did lose something, maybe he was 'captured' in the moment of being with his child, or he was delusional ... one or the other lol

The_Hawk
27-12-2007, 10:02 PM
Just remember, ignorance is no defence,, but asking them nicely since you were following all the rules you knew about might get you somewhere. Worst case, if it gets that far, would be to take it to court and see what happens. You have a 60/40 chance of the cop turning up anyway and if they don't, your off free!

On a side note, are those point double... because it's a double demerit period and all?

kenny21

Neil. That sucks mate, bloody officious NSW cops. I feel bad as well for joking that your plates were illegal! Dispute it , it wont get to court in the next few months, in the interim, get your full licence and presto, Judge will sympathise.

Was good to see a few new people and the usual crew, glad I came to catch up with you Andrew.

I reckon we have proved that Homebush is not an ideal venue as there is a lot of official presence and they obviously dont want a gang of golfers hanging out there!

Just before I post up my 17 pictures... (cough). I'd just like to say to everyone that came how much I enjoyed that day, and valued the opportunity to meet up with all you other car enthusiasts. It was a realy great day and the turnout was fantastic considering the rather short notice and the number of active members on this site. Also I'm sorry that these are late, I just got my new modem working this arvo hence the delay. I've uploaded all my pictures onto photobucket so here thes go:

It was realy good to see everyone there and see everyone's rides in the flesh. Oh and Steve, Love your car man "oh no, scrubbage" hahahaha...
I could hear it over my stereo and every other car in the run back to the site and I was the 2nd last car :D

Oh and water boy, thats my golf there in the green. Even the GL's can have some street cred when you put a bit of effort into them. And again, it was a pleasure meeting you all, I look forward to another event like this soon.

Cheers, Branko

Hahaha thx dude, the 2.slow was on full throttle when they were one half or 1/4 for the jag. Remember hearing my radiator fans working after the car was turned off, I ran the poor thing a bit too hard to keep up. It was a good turnout though I enjoyed it. Pity there were so many police around though.

Hahah cool, I could reapply your textured trim on the left side if you want ;)

Yeah definitely, we should all organize to do something this month on a Friday night or something along those lines.

Or... we could all meet up, and go together for the drags on Wednesdays, that could definately be interesting. But yet again, people work... Hmnn I shall have to think more about this.

I say... this.... FRIDAY! The sooner the better to be honest... Any more cool cruise ideas with decent scenery? I looked around my local industrial estates, they put speed humps everywhere since the last time I hooned there j:. They're pretty much out of the question. I was told about some cool looking places around balmain, old train docks or something? Anyone from around there?

Bring on the meet. Ray, the way you described Redfern sounded ok, but I don't know about the surroundings? Bit dodge?

Branko, i second your statement about the cops. Nearly shat a hole through my seat as i ripped it past cops at 100 (in 60 zone) when everyone left..I saw them turn at the end of the median strip so i dipped through as many corners as i could and got myself lost until I found my road about 10 mins later haha. Nothing yet thank goodness.:D

Also we need to consider making this not as close as possible to any other meet that we are having anytime in the near future!

Easy there Tiger!!! You need to give people time for this. Also if everyone one is interested to have something like this of a Friday night or something like that then we can start a new thread or something, something that is clear and precise about what will happen, I'm all for taking photos someone will just have to photoshop my Porsche wheels back on for it:(

Hey guys (and ms. Fuzion!!) it was great to meet up with you all. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it was good to put people to nicknames as you tend to build a picture of forum members in your head of what they are like.
Thanks heaps for making the effort Fuzion and Floody, pity you couldnt hang around for the awesome pizzas, it was great to meet you. Floody, those tyres were certainly worn off square on the edges mate, sgn of good hard driving around corners! Fuz, that would have to be the most tasteful Mk4 I have seen, and so clean.
The Mk3s were fantastic, Steve, yours looks great and sounds even better! The green one looked awesome too. Sorry we left the Maccas fellas behind but it was great that you managed to find us at the pizza place, thanks.Geoge, loved the Jetta mate, it was great to meet you. Thats a nice area you live in.
Thanks for the pics too guys, Steve, every time I looked you had your face in the camera, using Georges tripod??? Camera one fellas!!!!!!!
I drove down from Forster for this get together and returned at 6 the next morning, about 3 hours each way with the dumb "holiday road traffic management" up the coast there. I have never seen so much held up traffic with 40km/h speeds on the Newcastle expressway.
I got back to Tassie without any problems, did 3,962 kms in 9 days, only saw 2 Polo GTIs in Ozland and one was Floodys.
The Koni coilover kit was waiting for me here so I will post an article soon on them and what I find with them.
I couldnt believe the security presence at Homebush, major overkill, especially when Neil pulled the bollard out of the ground for 1.5 seconds before putting it back!! Was fantastic to meet you mate.
Returning from the pizza place to homebush surprised me Steve, I couldnt remember all those turns and culdersacs getting there!!!!
Anyway, great to meet you all, see you all again soon!!
Andrew :)

We're all very glad that you decided to come along, interstate visitors are always by far the most interesting! There were some pretty good photo's there that captured the day as it was. You'd got an excellent car there Andrew, its so nice to see someone who actually cares about their MK5 enough to modify it, theres so many stockers in Sydney, driven by people who couldn't care less about what the car actually is, I've lost all interest in that series of GTi sadly. Good to see your doing the right thing, and we all hoped you enjoyed that meet.
