Congrats - it looks very tidy.
You tell that son of yours that he had better look after that incredible clean mk3 or he'll have a whole nations worth of VW fans to answer to.
Is this to become your new show stopper?

Yes, he will get the word. Hopefully he will bring it out at our DOVW.
It will be the new TOY to take to shows ;-)

Don't you just love the Mercedes front??
I have lots to learn about out new Polo, never owned one before. Comes with 14" wheels & 185/60 X 14 tyres, same as Golf III. I think there are 15 & 16" options with the current model whick may fit? Perhaps someone knows.
I assume they didn't do the GTi in this model?

I dont think they did, but a 1.8T does go in quite nicely from what i've seen. ;)

The wheels look a bit small to me, like a shopping trolly. However, I'm sure any of the current model will fit. 15" would be nice.

I have a mate with stacks of cars. I asked him how he got his wife to agrea. He said it was easy he just pointed out that it was much easier to find a new wife than a good car.
Worked for him !
He is on page 108 of street machines hot rod annual in an article called daves cave

Hopefully the Mk III will be active with my son. Of course I'll still have an interest in Mk IIIs.

Nice addition to the Polo's that are slowly but gradually increasing in number. My mate's ordered his Polo GTI yesterday and is hopefully getting prior to xmas.
Minor mods such as a Whiteline RSB should help the car with decreased body-roll and less understeer, which I'm sure is a desireable effect when driving any vehicle (which I'm sure the mrs will agree to when you explain it to her and tries it before and after it's on).
Going on the topic of audio - there is only a 4 speaker system running in the car. There are the two tweeters mounted on your A pillar and your mid-range drivers which are located in your doors. The rears are surprisingly blanks with no line out for speakers. Thus if you were serious about sound then you'd have to re-route your own speaker cables in.
I know this because I've fully modified my 9n3's audio equipment, and also had to work on a 9n2 with less minor audio modifications. However, it wouldnt actually be difficult to run a 5.1 system if you were game and that's IF the mrs will let you anywhere near the car with the intention of pulling it apart :o

Tyres are the same size as the Golf III. I think I have about a year to make up my mind if I put 15" on.

It will be delivered next week after some issues have been repaired. Julia can't wait.
I was surprised (pleasantly) how much room in the front and the quality feel. I'm not that sure if it will even match the "performance" of the 1.8 Golf III, but if it does, it'll be a great car.
I really like the look of the new ones, and I would have liked a TDi. I may try & interchange the tail lights with the new model.
