Fresh from the UK someone has just put an Audi TT-RS drive train into a Yeti.... and then whacked on a big turbo for good measure!

15735

15736

15737

Specs: 2.5 TTRS engine, Loba LO500+ turbo and Revo Performance Stage 3 software.

Stock Yeti = 123kW
TT-RS Yeti = 375kW

Totally mad :P

Nuts where do I sign

First you buy a Yeti. Then you buy a donor TT-RS and a turbo kit.

Then you move all the bits from the TT-RS to the Yeti, bolt on the turbo and tune it! :D

This is the build thread The Twins. (And Yeti RS) - Page 63 - Yeti Projects - BRISKODA.net (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/226003-the-twins-and-yeti-rs/page-63)

So a bit more info on this build.

The car started out as a silver 1.8TSI 4x4:

15744

Had a full respray:

15745

15746

Here's the donor car:

15747

15748

And then swap everything into the Yeti:

15749

15750

15751

15752

15753

15754

And then just put back on the front bumper and headlights...

I'm sure we may have glossed over a few of the steps but essentially they've stripped the Yeti to a shell and transferred everything from the TT-RS into the Yeti including all electrics. Plus custom built a whole bunch of stuff that wouldn't fit (intercooler, etc)

This is about as serious a Yeti build as you're going to see - ever!

That guy sure loves his Yetis, and obviously has a big money tree! Would sure surprise pretty much everyone at the lights!

tigger73
20-04-2015, 07:45 PM
Yes he's got 3 Yetis and owns a transport company to fund his addiction.

That conversion pushes the Yeti into supercar territory. Definitely have to be a die-hard Yeti fan to put that much $ into the car. And word is that he's just ordered carbon doors... to cut weight by ~80kg

Would sure sound awesome, but you do have to wonder when a big turbo and tune on a stock engine makes it v8 territory, and it is already Haldex 5. I admire his balls out build, but personally I'd have a tuned Yeti, and give the TTrS to the missus and drive it on weekends!

I guess if he has the bucks, and enjoys it, then why not??

EDIT, after watching the video below, I take it all back. I totally get it now!!!

First day out at the track and the Yeti-RS is nipping at the heels of a tuned R32 GT-R (~400kW) plus dispatches a lot of other cars as if they weren't moving....

The Skyline was definitely pushing it but couldn't shake the Yeti off its tail.

You can see flames coming out the back of the skyline on the second last corner too.

Hammering Evo's with a passenger no less...it sure has some kick arse brakes!

tigger73

Yes it not only has a bunch of go but can stop pretty well too.

Next on the cards is a set of carbon doors to shed a few extra kg. I think the plan is to get is sub 1300kg in "track" trim.

What mods would you suggest for the Ariel Atom that was losing it in the corners trying to keep up?

tigger73

Well the Yeti-RS is off the road due to a cracked piston.

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/11/cdzaal-1.jpg

So while it's getting fixed it's also getting upgraded:

Stronger gearbox
Borg Warner EFR turbo
700bhp

It's also getting fitted out with carbon panels:

Just insane, must be awesome to have that sort of budget!!

tigger73
09-12-2015, 06:54 AM
Yes the guy owns a transport company and is a total Skoda "nut".

Carbon panels have been removed and are being painted:

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/12/received_1087815954571617_zpskhpcaxwcjpe-1.jpg

The same guy has a couple of other "projects" including a Roomster (http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f151/air-ride-roomster-106549.html) (lowered on bags and with camo wrap):

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/attachments/f151/17138d1434718602t-air-ride-roomster-6iy3xt-jpg

An there's also a Citi-go with a 1.8t conversion (450bhp) which is only partially complete...

20287

20288

But now we are getting a little side-tracked :cookie:

Some more engine building photos:

After the rebuild power should be up from 370kW to around 520kW... or over 4 x standard 1.8TSI output

And now the turbo kit:

This is going to be one seriously quick Yeti!!!

What mods would you suggest for the Ariel Atom that was losing it in the corners trying to keep up?

i was watching him drive (the yeti) and seeing how hard he had to work the steering to get it to turn.

it could be faster IMO

tigger73

Yeti engine is now complete with Iroz Motorsport Audi 5cyl 850 kit from the USA.

It is estimated to make around 540kW on 98 RON pump fuel and claimed max output of 630kW on E85.

Forged engine, head work and cams will allow an 8000rpm rev limit instead of 7000.

24372

24373

24374

It should be all back together in another month waiting to chase down some more exotic sports cars.... :P

Yeti-RS is back together again and pushing out 723hp/539kwaw!!!!

With a load of weight reduction and including a full roll cage the Yeti weighs in at 1300kg = 414kw/ton.
