Hi all,

I couldn't find a tuning thread for the Golf R / Audi S3 8V so I thought I would start one to get the ball rolling.

Was wondering if anyone in Canberra had a R mk7 APR tuned / Revo as I would like to have a look, hear thoughts / impressions / drive. I currently have the ABT 400hp tune on my Audi S3 (also for Golf R). my review for those interested My ABT Audi S3 400 hp+ tune review (http://www.ozaudi.com/forums/a3-s3-rs3/46335-my-abt-audi-s3-400-hp-tune-review.html)

and if anyone has had them dyno'ed on the notorious heart break dyno - dyno dynamics / roller rather than 2WD hub dynos

Cheers

There's been quite a bit of discussion on the APR stage 1 tune towards the end of the Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread (http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f197/mk7-golf-r-discussion-thread-77017.html) thread, although that currently runs to 278 pages and is a bit of a monster. ;)

Also check out the Tuning and Performance (inc ECU upgrades) (http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f20/) forum, and specifically:

And welcome from over on ozAudi; love your S3.

I would like to meet up with you to discuss, I am curious to see the performance and how it drives. The is similar to APR or REVO ECU reaps but torque is a fair bit lower. I like the idea of balance with tuning, more conservative tune, warranty is good piece of mind, I had a pirelli GTI tuned that had its warranty voided due to ECU remap, it was the most stressful experience ever! I sent a PM also

Got this information today from ABT.

No mention of the European 400hp numbers in Australia? Performance here would be pushing around 270kw and 460nm for around $6500. It
does however have come with Warranty, and its 2 years 100,000km. That is the only warranted non factory tune in Australia that I know of. But APR stage 1 will blow this away with its performance for $2000. I could then keep the $4500 for future issues?

JB1 is probably the way to go knowing how "great" VW warranty is

I'm getting the JB1 as well but wondered what Exoticars did for you?

Hills Eurohaus is about to get a shipment of JB1's. They are great guys too. They did the Stage 2+ work on my car, and I can definitely say it was an excellent experience.

Do you know how much they are selling them for? Other than installing the JB1, what else can they do? The installation for the 4 plugs seem simple enough, and tweaking the boost on map 1 with a laptop doesn't sound like it's hard either. Unless they're doing dyno for differenet boost settings then I'd understand what value they can add.

I fitted the JB1 myself, but got them to do the more involved stuff (Downpipe/Intercooler). You can tune JB1 Map 6 very well yourself if you have VCDS and can do some logging.

Hills do all sorts of work though. They're installing a new dyno I think in Feb, so they'll be able to assist with Map 6 tuning once that's in. I was just suggesting them to you as a local supplier (cheaper shipping), plus if you had any other work you needed done - I couldn't fault their service.

Thanks. I think I'll install the JB1 myself and play with it. Will need to find someone who produces a downpipe for the wagon to get some performance and get rid of the ringing sound.
